Problems with lock up switch!

Ok so i have been reading the read on the how-to lock up switch and made one. Worked fine for a bit and was driving home just now with the switch off the tq converter locked at 55mph like it was suppose to and I had to hit the brakes hard to stop and the truck starts bucking very bad almost hit the guy in front of me then stalled even with the switch off. Once it locks at 55mph with the switch off it will not unlock no matter what i do. *** is wrong with this thing I now have it disconnected and its fine...It did fine earlier now its doin this crap. Any help would be appreciated. 18 gauge wire, soldered 33ohm resistor inline with the ground, tapped wire pin #7 on transmission. Thanks..

On that other thread you posted on the very first post said something about jump a wire on a relay.. Go read it! Maybe you need to do that for the 04.5 and up trucks!!

Check your switch and make ABSOLUTELY sure it is not bad. Ohm it out disconnected and make sure.

One of 2 things could be happening, the switch is bad and it is not releasing, or you found a glitch with the 06 programming that thinks it has an EB activated. Could be either one.

Even with the EB activated, the TC unlocks at 22mph...

I don't think they're related.

I think mike has a el cheap'o switch.. Mike ya need to go to radio shack and just get you a basic two post switch like I did.. Heck walmart carries one too.. I bought the one with two black wires coming off it.. None of that fancy looking stuff. I am willing to bet that its your switch or you may need to put that jumper wire on that relay.. Just make sure where you soldered you put enough tape so its not touching anything..

Not if it never gets an unlock signal due to another component in the system causing false signals. The changes in the programming could cause an issue depending on how they treated the feedback from the TC lock.

Switch would be my first suspect though.

Jumping the relay just stops the codes the ECU sees. It doesn't effect the operation of the lockup solenoid.

Using the resistor accomplishes the same thing as the jumper. The ECU is looking for 5-100 ohms resistance in the circuit all the time. If it falls outside that range it throws a code and sometimes goes into limp mode until it is fixed.

The lockup and OD solenoids are powered all the time. Operation is achieved by grounding them and breaking that ground. In this case either the switch is allowing current to pass or the ECU is seeing something that makes it think it needs to lock the TC.

I Have The Ats Co Pilot Lock Up Switch, You Can Turn It On Or Off Whenever You Want. Also You Can Set The Mph That It Locks. Mine Is Set At 18mph And When I Launch At 40 Pounds Of Boost And It Locks, Its Like A Rocket. Its Hard To Keep My Truck In My Lane. I Also Launch In 4x4 Because I Cant Hook Up In 2 Wheel Drive.

Diesel69 I bet it does take off like a rocket...40psi boosted launches your transmission is on thin ice, the shafts anyway but enjoy it why it lasts
