Problem installing HID kit
Hey I'm trying to install the GP Thunder HID kit, it would be a simple plug and play if Dodge didnt make the headlights computer controlled.
So heres what I did, I thought I could out smart the computer.
I Left the stock bulbs in there and just put a scotch lock(attached wiire) to the factory headlight wires. Zip tied the factory bulb to the frame and attached the HID to the factory headlight wires, so both will work, and wont give me a lamp out light. Anyways it was working great in the driveway, until I started driving and they woluld erraticly turn on and off...weird. well its 4:02am and im going to sleep.
Actually I didnt use a stocth lock, I just told you that to simplify. I stripped 2 wires and wraped them together and used a large yellow connector. So I dont think thats the problem
It works, its getting power but for some reason it doesnt work. The factory bulbs are still working fine with no flikering which are hooked up through the connector.
Its just weird....
Thanks
Dan

If you put relays in without the original bulb.. the computer will not recognize the small amp draw of a relay's trigger. It thinks there is no bulb so to prevent the short.. it doesn't power up.
Maybe with the original bulbs there it will still work. I've tried attaching another light(marker light) but it didn't solve the lamp out problem.
I guess I'm just use to seeing it lit.
good luck
