Well i tried loading the tuner in an 03 today, when i clicked to load a tune it went threw a loading process and then said, tuner needs calid##### update. So i beleive the tuner will work fine on the 03 if it was updated. And on my 05 i am convinced there is atill a tune left on it from a previous owner. So tomorro my buddy at a dealer is gonna try and reflash me with the lastest factory flash. So i think we got it figured out, just need to update the tuner to the newest version and flash my truck back to factory.

 

I had a lot of trouble with a usb to serial cable (which is what my predator needed for updates). I ended up getting a true serial to serial cable. If you are lucky enough to have a computer that has a serial port use that instead, the cable will be cheaper, you won't have driver issues, and things will go much smoother. another option is adding a serial port, usually the motherboard has a serial connection and you can just add a dummy card with the external serial port.

 

Im not a wiz with computer stuff. So what are the differences with the cables? I have access to laptops with serial ports, but i dont know anything about them. What is the connection called on the tuner side for the update cable? Also i see instructions talking about these drivers and programs you need to have to do the downloads. Is it easy to mess stuff up and screw anything up majorly? Will a radio shack or staples have the cord i need?

 

When I had the Predator, I never had any problems with the USB to Serial Cable and I too kept up with al the different updates and downloaded the RKL files. I got everything needed to update the programmer at Radio Shack. Wasn't a lot of $ and the updates are fairly easy to navigate, just take your time the first time and read the instructions as you go.

If you want, just take the Predator right into the store and say I need to connect this to my computer. That's actually exactly what I did

 

Well i just came back from dealer. I got it working now, i loaded the performance tune andit runs good. Its stronger than what ever was on there but its making less boost, 30 31 now, was 38ish befor, but it pulls harder now. Im gonna get a cord and get the updated stuff later this week.
