Some of the old PPE boards were bully dog. Bully dog would send them a blank board and they would then program the board with their software. PPE and Bullydog are two completly different softwares. They just happen to use the same board. This came str8 out of Dan's mouth. The hot upgrade is pricey but you have to realize that their box will work on any model year CR cummins. 03-08. even the 6.7l
Their customer service is second to none. Call them up and they'll help you out in anyway they can. Ask for Dan, he's the man.

My PPE case says it is the HOT version , but when I download a tune there`s no option for me to pick it.....am I doing somthing wrong , is there a "code" or something I don`t know about.

I got it from a buddy of mine a couple of years ago , and don`t see him much anymore , or I`d ask him about it.

...sorry for the hijack , just more PPE folks here than I would have thought...

Just curious and asking because I am not certain, but from what I understand, Bully Dog Crazy Larry and Scary Larry tunes provide the most (best) performance on 05 models. Or is it just the Scary Larry tune?

If this is true, then this poll will be biased depending on the number of 05 trucks that respond. By all of the posts about Smarty, I am certain it is a great programmer for all years, and I would definitely try it out if I had the extra $, but hasn't Bully Dog been very competitive on 05 models?

i got a 05 and i love my larry programs. I would never jack with a smarty to much crap imo. Its a 7,000+ pound truck not a 7 sec drag car i dn't wanna have to jack with the timing and all diff. setting i want to plug in downloader and go and be able to change on the fly is a +. Let the thrashing begin.

No thrashing here.

My truck didn't like the bully dog. The scarry larry program will only work on 05 model trucks. Crazy larry gets hot fast but what do you expect.

I also experienced horible customer service with bully dog.

well i have an 05 auto truck and i have never tried a smarty but i would like to see how one would compare on another 05. I put down 583 and 1147 with scarry larry and whats in my sig and thats on stock stix and cp3. so i believe i will stick with scarry larry and let the smarty boys think what they will

I ran the BullyDog Power Pup with Crazy Larry tune for over two years with zero problems. Switched to the Smarty about 2 weeks ago and am not looking back. The throttle response alone with the Smarty is enough to make me vote for the Smarty.

Love bd

I have had bd crazylarry for two years, since truck was new. I had a problem, called bullydog, they took care of problem. Pulled many times, ran full boost at strip 6 times, still stock tranny except for shift kit. Runs warm but they all do when your stacking. Wouldnt mind trying smarty just never had the opportunity. And at the pulls i was always in the top with the best even when not stacking. ITS NASTY.

Thats true, but when your like me and havent tried anything else you dont know any better. Therefore its the best. My buddy has an 05 he has a built tranny, exhaust, homemade cai, edge, powerpuck and diablo programmer, and nitrous. He does have 33 12.50's though, versus my stock. Best time at track so far with nos has been 8.5 something. I ran my stuff and hit 8.654. That tells me something is working right.

the main problem with bullydog is eveyone compares crazy larry to the smarty when crazy larry isnt all that scarry larry is way better than crazy larry and there are some other tunes floating around that could be better then that who knows
