post turbo pyro
I understand the pros and cons of mounting the pyro either pre or post turbo, so I don't want to start a debate with this thread.
My question...is there a preferred location on the elbow (post turbo) to mount the pyro? Is the elbow thick enough to mount it virtually any position?
Thanks.

I've got mine post turbo, but soon will be moving to pre turbo.
I picked a location that was easy to get to through the wheel well and my brother and I started drilling. So I guess my thermocouple is pointing toward the passenger side and I believe canted slightly upward. Like I said, just what was easiest to get to at the time!
The elbow is more than thick enough for any position. Just take your time with the drilling and tapping and everything will go smooth. When tapping take it about a half turn in and back off about a 1/4 turn and repeat. We used a little bit of oil too. The location was a bit rough for the T handle that the tap uses, so we used a small 1/4" ratchet with a 1/4" socket on the end when the going got tough.
Hope this helps!

I marked where I wanted the pryo located, removed the two clamps, pulled the elbow off and tapped it on my bench - very simple.
The elbow can only be (re)installed one way, as it has a small pin on the turbo end to properly position it. Once you have the pin end lined up, the downpipe can be moved into place using a 2 by 4 for a bit of leverage.
I didn't take measurements, but the elbow is stout and appeared to have a uniform thickness. As mentioned, you shouldn't have a problem tapping it.
