poor man's exhaust mod

Need assistance. I know there are threads all over for exhaust mods, but I don't want to spend a lot of money and I don't want the dreaded drone.

Option 1 - Donaldson 51 inch muffler
Option 2 - Geno's MEP
Option 3 - MBRP muffler only

My early 04 truck has 3 1/2 going into muffler and an offset 4 inch coming out. I want something easy to install as no shops in my area carry adapters or clamps.

Any guideance to the cheapest way to open up my exhaust without paying much and running into the drone ??

ditto that. it cost me 50 bucks to have a piece of 4" welded in place of my muffler. the shop should be a ble to flare the end of your 3 1/2" pipe to put 4 inch all the way. mine doesnt drone, but it is loud when you're pulling. not obnoxious, but after a few hours you notice it.

You can jus go to the dodge dealer and they have a clamp on piece pre bent to go on in place of your muffler.. And the dealer backs it..

Just got rid of my hi-flow 4inch muffler over the weekend and straight piped it.

Should have done that 2 years ago.

The drone that I had with the muffler is gone, and it sounds just wicked

Any big rig parts dealer will have it....

You have enough "play" in the system to not worry about it and get everything where you want it...tail pipe included beofre tightening clamps or welding pipe.

I cut of the factory exhaust hangers from the muffler and tacked them on the new muffler. It looks stock...except the use of band clamps over the cruddy ubolts.

Rebar or round stock can also be used to "restore" the hangers on the muffler.

If you don't feel up with this...spend double and just get the DPP replacement muffler. 60-150 buck is all that is required to make a nice exhaust system on this truck that will support 600 hp.

Also....noticed you had an 04....

Get a 4" cast elbow and downpipe from a 4.5 or a Banks 4" downpipe and 2-4 feet of 4" exhaust tube with one end flared to slip over the down pipe...

Then you will have a real nice system....all 4".

PM me and I will explain it in detail if you want. Sorry to highjack.
