PML diff cover...anyone paint theirs?

Just wondering if you've painted your as-cast finish cover?

No paint here. I think only dark colors would look good, surface isn't finished well enough to produce a quality shine with paint.

I was thinking of ordering the rear cover in as-cast finish and painting it with like a hi-temp flat black. Might have to sand it good to get the paint to stick, maybe primer too

Probably not the best choice. Bedliner is a pretty fair insulater.

Some high temp engine enamals contain ceramic. That's a pretty good insulater, too.

PC or a light coat of enamel shouldn't effect heat transfer enough to matter for normal use. If you're going to hauling or racing in the desert, there are some specialty coatings available that promote heat transfer, and will almost suck the heat out of the oil

I painted both front and rear with krylon gloss black, 3 coats then took a flat file to take the paint off the fins. Looks just like the power coated one. Prep the outer surface first, I used brake cleaner spray to wash off any oil film and dirt that was on it. Has held up fine, been 3 yrs now.
