My 01 has a straight pipe. You can hear it coming about a block away. Sounds awesome expecially with a 6 speed. Once on your way down the road it's not bad at all.

I know many of you have seen my vid, and I will make more down the road, but here is a sound clip letting you know how loud they can be even with a muffler. The noise is about the same coming out a stock tailpipe, but its location makes it a little quieter in the cab. The stacks let you know every sound the truck makes.

that sounds awesome for having a muffler, im amazed at the turbo whistle through the exhaust, normally a muffler kills that. what kind of muffler isit??

Its a Flo-Pro Twister race muffler, less than 18" long total and about 6-7" in diameter. Pretty cheap muffler that does a good job. I don't want my truck too quiet, I just want it to have a sound like none others around here.

I look like a Flo-Pro cheerleader lately huh guys?

Yeah and no. Your downpipe from the turbo to the muffler is 3.5", then from the muffler back its 4". You need to get a 4" elbow for the turbo and a 4" downpipe, then the straight pipe and muffler if wanted. You can reuse your stock tailpipe and put a tip on it. The elbow isn't crucial, but its a good addition if you're gonna have the DP off anyways.

I have an 04 305/555 and your truck does not come with a cat unless its the Calif. version. I at one time pulled the muffler off as well and ran straight pipes. Super lound and raspy. For $50 its kinda fun, but eventually you will get annoyed with it and go with something like the MBRP. Now having straight piped exhuast wont hurt anything, but I think having some backpressure does increase the power over nothing at all. At least that's what I felt.

I must be the exception to the rule. I had mbrp on mine and I straight piped mine with a turn out and hanging right off the cat delete pipe. A little loud but I love it!

I put the straight 4" mbrp with no cat or muffler on my 03 SO and I love it. I used to have a set of stacks but it was just too loud in the cab plus I could smell the exhaust when sitting still. I took the stacks off and ran it all the way to the back with a slight turn down tip. Now it is plenty loud without the drone sound.

the first thing i done to the truck was straight pipe it then i put stacks in it but they were a little loud in the cab with no muffler so i put a mbrp 4" turbo back on it w/muffler then it was 2 quiet so i took the muffler back out and put in a striaght piece and put in its place and i love it now.
