Plans for a under-seat sub box?
Anyone have plans for an under (back) seat sub box? I don't know much about steros or what's needed for the boxes, but do know that my old man is retired, is a whiz with wood working and is always looking for another project.
If no one has plans, for those of you that have built them, what is the purpose of the box? I know that sound elementary, but is the purpose JUST to hold the sub in place, or does the box need to be lined with closed cell foam or anything like that?
Any help or pointers would be appreciated.

box size depends on the sub going into it so once you choose the sub you want or have the company will give specs on box sizes for a sealed and a ported box you are going to want the sealed box specs because up wont be able to get the airspace you need for a ported box
the box i build for my truck is almost all fiberglass because you get the most out of the under seat area the only wood i used was the speaker rings and support and a 3 inch riser on the side the rest is all fiberglass

Interesting. I didn't realize they were generally made out of fiberglass for these trucks, but I suppose that makes sense. Do the '03s have the same under seat area as the '06s? Can't remember if they changed the backseat design after they reworked the trucks post 2001/2002.

Awesome. Thanks. I checked and I also believe they are the same. I think the '02+ are all the same. Now I've just got to decide if I'm going to put one or two subs in. I'm leaning toward one because I'd like the back of my truck to still be a little functional. I'm sure you've got to remove the fold out floors to install a full box back there, so I'm thinking of just putting one sub under the drivers side rear. Anyone out there with just one 10" sub?

Heck, for what I can buy a box for I'll probably just purchase a custom fiberglass box that'll be lighter and look better. I've just got to figure out if I'm going to ruin the entire back storage area or just one half of it Have to figure out a new place to keep my jumper cables, trailer hitch and pin converter and jack I guess . . .

this is what was installed in my trk. of course i lost the storage, but gained more by installing an aluminum box in the bed. the thing i miss, is the feature of having the platform when needed.

i dont know if you were talking to me or stroker101 but in my case i had to jack the seat up 3 inchs but that is what i had to do to get a little over 4 cuft and as long as i dont have passengers over 6' 3" it is ok
