Pinched off turbo
I think this is right, let me know if it's ok or not. I was only making 21 lbs of boost acording to my Bullydog monitor. I know analog is better but...anyway. I tried a boost fooler and I max out at 18lbs. So, I pinched off the tube that goes to the waste gate and am now making 28lbs and I can here it whistle now. I know this isn't the best way to solve this problem, thats why I'm asking. I haven't put the boost fooler back on yet, is it alright to?

i did the same thing with some vice grips. i think your probably making more boost than you think. stock shoud be about 26psi. when i pinched mine off with the diablo predator on extreme it would get up to 38psi witch is to much for our turbo.

The boost fooler doesn't do anything on a 03 or 04. The 04.5 have the electronic controlled wastegates. The 03-04 is a manual wastegate. Basically what you did is what a "boost elbow" does.

You are talking about a wastegate fooler. The boost fooler is something different. It is there to clamp the voltage on the map sensor so that the computer thinks it is making less boost than it really is. The ECM will defuel around 28psi because in stock form the truck shouldnt make more boost than that. The boost fooler clamps it at around 21psi so it will continue to add full fuel and not defuel on high boost.

I bought the tst elbow... and the quad does my fooling. waiting on the commander to get some readings. but, the elbow helped out. on our turbo, save the 35 bucks and just plug it. if it blows up, just buy a real turbo. that's what i'm gonna do

Let me guess the bullydog monitor plugs into your truck somewhere instead of being tapped into the intake elbow?? Thus with the boost fooler and you only seeing 18lbs of boost is the same thing your trucks computer is also. In other words the boost fooler is fooing you and your truck into thinking your seeing 18lbs of boost ...lol

I went round and round with the stock turbo and couldn't ever get beyond 28-30 PSI with the vice grips and the quad race box. Someone did some work to figure out the efficiency maps for the 2003-2004.5 turbo and if I remember correctly it is very inefficient above 28 and really heats up the intake air temps. If you search you can probably still find the threads.
Now the 2005 turbo is a little more entertaining. I had to block the actuator hose, but that's all the boost foolers do anyway, just using the electronic actuator instead of a mechanical block. I'm good for 36+ now! I don't know why dodge didn't just build them like that in 2003...
