Piers Bomber Lite or G1?
I was reading through some old threads and found on about modifying the stock 03/04 turbos. I look at Piers site but didn’t see any info on them. Does anyone know if there still producing them? I know im going to need a new turbo sooner or later with the TST that I just ordered. I just can’t afford the $1500 price tag. Is there an upgrade turbo that will allow for the use of the TST at about 5x5 and still be reliable? From what I’ve read the stock 03 turbos don’t work the best with the PMCR. What do you guys think the best low cost fix would be? Is the stock one fine for awhile, do they even make the Bomber lites anymore, or would i be best get a SP 62 or something similar. Thanks for any help. Joel

How did the smarty and injectors fuel compared to the TST? Im worried about braking the shaft on the turbo running the TST box. How were your EGT's. The setup that i want to run is a TST, some sort of pressure box, and H2O/meth to help keep temps down. Would the G1 support these mods very well?

most of the turbo breakage on the 03-04 were because of people using a different boost elbow than the one tst supplies, running too high power and torque levels and over boosting
My stock turbo lived a long life on power level 4/3 (old aggressive program)
and was still in excellent shape when I took it off to put on the ps62
level 4 on the old program is like 5 or 6 on the new program
watch your temps and keep boost at or below 32psi, ease into the power, ease out of the power, dont drive like an idiot, and your turbo will be fine
YOUR MILEAGE WILL TANK WITH A BIGGER TURBO

Thanks Agades, the TST box that I ordered should be hear on friday. Its a used R49 with adjustable timing and the ablity to change programs. Im assuming that the program that your talking about is the standard one right? I think it comes with the standard, early twins, and late twins.

I forgot the G1 truck was also running something like a Dr.Perf Stage 2 for pressure also. It wasn't my truck but that truck was sledpulling and running hard and the turbo seemed to run cool....never over 1500.....and it spooled as fast as stock. ks

the standard program is probably what your gonna want to run
the twins program will allow you to grenade your turbo
keep the torque levels down
high torque numbers are tough on turbos as well
every driver is different but remember to ease in and out of the power
flooring it and speed shifting and barking a turbo leads to

I would suggest not putting the wastegate elbo TST supplies, just run your stock setting. this is what I did for about 6 months and I could still hit 47psi. However in the future I would be saving up for a SPS 62,64, Super B, Aurora 2000,3000, or something of those variants. I ran 6x6 with my stock turbo and never blew it.

Ha, I ran my setup.... CP 3.4 and huge injectors with the tst on twins on the stock turbo for several weeks and it was awesome....provided the boost limiter from TST was on 35psi as it rocket to 40psi in a microsecond then settle in to 35psi and hold it solid. No smoke at idle, spin the tires at will, smoke like a coal train at wot. I thought for sure it would give up but the TST limiter is pretty soft on turbos I tell ya. ks

I just spoke with Mark at TST and he said to run their boost elbow. It is set to open at 32 psi. He said that using the TST supplied elbow will lower egts quite a bit which will help produce more performance. Mark said that they have seen more blown turbos on the 600 series motors than with the 555's (if the correct boost elbow is used not the EZ for example. He also said that they dont include a boost elbow for the 600's but i thought they were electroniclly controled.

exactly!
the 04.5 and up cant use the elbow
they are electronically controlled, which is dissabled when you hook up a box, so their wastegate is dissabled, so they over boost
the EZ elbow caused many turbos to blow
