I have been following this website for about 3 months and after reading many threads I decided against the 6.4 and went with the 5.9.

I would like to hear some opinions on the following:

Air intake I would love to build a whistler but I dont know how to weld I am thinking about the afe stage 2 ???

Exaust From what I have read my truck has a 4'' exaust??? Does that mean I can just install a muffler? Any suggestions? maybe a 4'' in and 5'' out ?

Wheels and Tires I would love to run 35's could I clear them with a 2'' leveling kit.

do they make remote start for diesels???

These will be my first 4 projects and I appreciate any suggetions you have.

Great choice you dont want a power joke.. lol.... i have a leveling kit on my truck and run 35's but my dad runs them stock so you could possibly run them stock....

yea it has a 4 inch it already has a muffler and a cat .... if you want sound you can get those cut of and run straight or replace the stock muffler with a magnaflow or auroturbine or somethin of that nature .. and remove the cat.

i have a airraid cold air intake and am gettin rid of it to get a whistler because oil filters turn your turbo fins black.

great choice man, i have a buddy that had a 08' ford 6.4L 6-speed, and he blew both turbos, and a set of injectors in under 10K!!!! and now he owns a bada$$ 07' 5.9L quad cab white 3500 with aluminum flatbed.. funny thing is he bought it on a saturday night, and monday it was in the shop gettin a AFE stage 2 intake, gauges, straight piped, Fuel system, Smarty, and SB DD clutch... i knew i could get him to the dark side!!!

 

I would just remove the muffler and cat. Then add a straight through muffler.. I went with a Walker # 21471 from Napa.. Much louder than stock, yet not overly loud. I tried the straight pipe first, and the drone inside was just too much for me.. It also had a tinny sound I didn't care for.. It didn't sound near as good as my straight piped 12 valve..

 

Great choice! You will be very happy with that truck. Got my 5.9 last month and love it. Mods are easy and remote start is nice. Had remote on my 05 and will definately be getting it on my 07. Wise decision not to get the powerstroke.
