Performance VALVE BODY ?'s

I am running a power pup (might get a xzillaraider instead) and get some trans slippage and was looking at getting a replacement valve body (bd or dtt). I was wondering how these respond with just a stock tc and I am not planning on adding any more fuel than the bully dog or xzill. I would like to run the extreme, but will it hold the performance program with just a valve body or at least help out a lot? Where can I get the best prices on these and possibly around the Abilene, TX area?

from what I have heard on this forum is that the VB is fine, it is the torque converter that is in need of help. stock tc lets too much slip by and end up as heat instead of goin down the road.

But don't the valve bodies apply more fluid to the tc by increasing pressures therefore eliminating the slip

yes, but from the mix of inferior parts ie the welded on tabs, stamped steel parts that all add up to a tc that will not stand up to much more than stock, unless you are lucky. aftermarket have billet one peice parts that have no weld weakness and much greater clutch areas to grip. again this info is what I have gathered here on this site but I thought origianlly as you, " I need a new VB to tighten things up " I don't thik that any more and spend my time thinking of which tc to go with and where to get it from before I do any more power enhancing mods.

Even if you apply more pressure to the TC clutch you will get some slip under extreme loads. The particles eventually make there way into the tranny plugging up vital pathways. I just put a new TC in and holly cow!! A new valve body would do you some good for now but may cause some issues down the road for you.
