Pac Brake on 2006 Auto

Well, after much research, I have decided to go with the Pac Brake PRXB for my 2006 Ram 2500 with the auto transmission. From what I have read and have been told, I do NOT need to get a special tranmission program/lockup module and I do NOT need to upgrade the ECM.

Guys with a 2006 and an auto, how are you liking your Pac Brake?
Was it truly a "bolt-on"?
Also, what does it SOUND like, is it really noticeable?
How does it work with the auto trans lockup?

The price of a Pac Brake ($1275 US) is higher than a Jacobs Brake but I like it features more than the Jacobs...

I have the Pac-Brake on my 06 and it works very well.

No ECM or special mods are needed, it takes 3-6 hrs to install.

Call around for pricing, you can get the Pac for less than $1k!

I will PM you a contact # soon!

I think you are talking about the standard (not PRXB) model. The list is somewhere around $1275 on those.

The absolute cheapest I could get on Ebay (Best offer option) was like $1075, Lary did a little better than that even! (PM him for details).
Mine will be here Monday (according to UPS), I am VERY excited to get it in and see how it works towing the 5'er.

I don't know much about exhaust brakes. Anyone know how an aftermarket one like the one you are talking about here would compare to the factory one on the 2007.5 6.7L?

Not to make excuses, but he has been very busy lately. The trouble getting in contact is worth the savings................

The factory unit is vacuum operated and is an orifice type (small hole in center of butterfly). The one we are talking about is air operated (compressed with included on board compressor and air tank) and is not an orifice type. It closes fully but has a gap around the edges to let the exhaust through and insure it doesn't stick.

Lots of people are very happy with the Jacobs (factory) units too though from what I read.

Actually, I was wrong anyway. I just got my Pac in the mail, it has a LARGE hole with a slide plate over it.

My main point was the difference in actuation.

It sounds tough, like a miniature big rig.

Perfectly. Automatically disengages then engages as the torque converter unlocks, tranny downshifts, and torque converter locks.

I paid $1040 for my PRXB shipped to my door.
