P1740 with Goerend trans
Well yesterday I took the truck up a long semi-steep incline at about 35 mph the whole way while going up this small mountain we have here in Oklahoma. about 1/2 a mile up, the brake and ABS lights flickered on and off a couple times. I pulled over, checked for codes, but there were none. started it back up and continued up the mountain the rest of the way.
Then on the way home, driving down the flat highway, the two lights came back on. this time P1740 was thrown, which says something like TCC Solenoid or O/D something or other.
the truck isn't shifting funny (other than the light throttle issues its always had in 1st & 2nd), and its not slipping at all from what i can tell.
any suggestions on what I should do?

When I talked to Dave he said that with his really tight converter the ecu will throw a code when the engine rpm doesn't drop enough during lockup. It basically thinks that the TC never locked.

i've had the goerend trans in for probably 8 to 10k miles and this is the first time its done it.
if its the o/d solenoid, how hard is that to replace?

I talked to dave about this with mine also, its a normal but not regular occurance. Mine only does it when I really baby the throttle and the TC locksup with no change in engine rpm. Just clear it and go on with life.

I also recently got it while driving in slow traffic. (under 35) and had it in T/H mode so it would lock the converter up to keep temps cool. After about 5 min of this I got a CEL and thought (you know) pulled over checked it and saw the same code. (TCC/OD Solonoid Perofrmance), cleared it out with SMARTY, and it has not come back. Talked to my installer and he said that if it does it again he would call Dave and talk to him about it.

I get that code all the time with my ats, and it is starting to lock the converter when it shouldn't and doesn't when it sould so I think I am going to change the od/ tcc control sylonoids and see if it fixes the problem. Will post results once I have done the syloniods.

well i cleared it and took it out for another spin last night and it threw the code again. yet it seems to be shifting fine. btw each time the code is thrown, i have been doing about 35-40 mph. so O/D and lockup shouldn't even be a factor yet.
and keep in mind its never done this until this week and i've had the trans for almost 10 months.
i had goerend install the trans, so now i'm a bit uncertain as to who would be qualified to take a look at fixing it. bad part about oklahoma is that even though we have a ton of rednecks driving these bad boys around, there aren't any good shops (at least that i know of) that work on them.

just dont worry about it... eventually you will clear it and it will go away for good. mine took awhile to clear and for the comp to recognize the prob and correct/live with it.
