When I got my Line-X done, I had them do it over the rail and lip of the tailgate. It's very nice to not have to worry when sliding heavy things into the bed from the sides. Line-X rocks.

If you do any type of loading heavy things, the tailgate coating will get pieces chunked out of it regardless of the brand. I have a DeeZee SS protect piece on the top edge of the tailgate, over the liner.

I bought some diamon plate DeeZee covers for the top of the tailgate and bed rails. I was so used to the built-in rails that came on my super duty so I had to get something to protect them. So far both the rail pieces have held up perfectly, look new when cleaned up. I put them on within a week after buying the truck in April of 06. The tailgate piece looks good, but it is a little marked up and some of the coating is peeling away....or at least I think it's some kind of coating? Anyway it's my fault for often hauling away debris and materials longer than 8 feet. Also they are aluminum, so no rust. I'm still looking for a piece to go over the top of rail behind the rear window, but no luck. I also wanted some diamond plate rocker panels to match but no luck there either.

I have the DeeZee brite treads also. They are clear coated to prevent tarnishing. Mine is holding up great now for 4 years. Couple of little dings and scrapes on the tailgate trim but that's to be expected.
