Outrun by a Ferd

Guys, I was quietly driving down the divided highway when a Chromed out 05 F350 Dually passes me by. I of course pull up behind him and followed closely for a while to see whats going on inside. Every time he accelerates to pass (we're doing 85mph) there is a little bit of smoke. We step it up to 95mph (no cars) and we both hold it there. Then on the downhill he nails it and I do to. I fuel limit at 107 mph and he keeps going. I have driven in a F350 srw 04 and it fuels out at 98 mph. He's definitely gotta box and big exhaust but on the downhills he drops me. I have way more acceleration tst 7/9 (8/9 too much smoke showing) and running cool 1150 (65deg out). He pulls into a Big Stop Truck Stop so I follow. It was actually a trucking company owner driving his drivers to their trucks after being home for the weekend. The truck had full banks set up 6 gun with speedloader blah blah blah.
Story is he was turning off his key a bit to turn off the speedlimit. He was running at max temp on the 6 gun and could only run real fast for 1/4 mile at a time before meltdown. I can't key click on my truck as my FASS is on the freakin cigar lighter and when I turn the key back ...no fuel. I was cheated or as he said out foxed. We all laughed it up and I hit the road. A BD speed limit remover is in my future. ks

Guys, We were doing over 100 mph for over 5 miles and over 95 for about 15. It was actually smoother at 100 than at 70 that's for sure. Did I mention it was raining a bit. Everything ran cool. ks

If you want to go faster than 107 run 37 inch tires. You will pick up about 17% (if I'm not mistaken) and be able to run 125.

Guys,
With 37's I would't fit near any of my trailers. I'll go with a BD RAD top speed limit eliminator...much cheaper....except on fuel. ks

Guys, Thought I'd dredge this one up. Well the guy in the F350 blew his tranny within a couple of days of this and has trashed it again since it was fixed the first time. After this extended high speed and for him high temp run...buddy turned it off the second he got out...and he was a truck driver and company owner. Well I guess from what his brother in law said....he cursed me for being so hard on his truck. I guess I didn't get outrun by a Ford afterall. I think he's looking at an 06 Dmax.....can't wait for that one as with RAD I'll gladly roaster. ks

Spooler, That is one race I don't ever want to win. Buddy said he wouldn't buy a Dodge cause the seats hurt his back, and the back seats were too small for big guys. Those others are hurting his back pocket. If I had his money I'd have a nice air ride captains chair with heat and massage and a real truck, a Dodge to bolt it to. I guess he'll have to wait for a long box dually Mega Cab. I assure you that those big boys would not fit in my back seat that is for sure. Can't wait to talk to him myself. Nothing makes a Dodge owner feel better than a dedicated Ford owners misery. ks

Sheesh, with RAD its 119mph. If I can get some rev limiter relief it will be 130mph. Smooth as butter even on frost heaves. This was before I replaced the front shot ujoint and ball joints. Not in downtown suburbia but on lonely divided highway. ks

Fast Old Road Dog
Speed limiters elimiters can be really handy- my best friend had a superchip w/ one in his '02 7.3L at 120mph the speedo would short out and go back to zero and he had enough rpms left to do about 138mph
we went from Sidney the Billings(normally a 3 1/2 hour drive at 75 mph) and put 13 miles on the odo.
