One Million tire question
Hey Guys Im picking up some Moto Metal Wheels that are 18x9's and have a back spacing of 4.5". My truck is an 03 4x4 with NO leveling kit or anything. Im wanting to know what tire should I put on these wheels?????? I was looking at some 285/65/18 Terra Grapplers but it just doesnt look wide enough for me.

x2........I had 305/55/20's for a while. They fit with no rub whatsoever. They are pretty close to the 325/60/18 in dimensions.

285/65/18's will fit but I'm not 100% sure about anything more than that unless you have some sort of lift on the truck. I know the 285's will fit because I had them mounted on my truck for a couple days before upgrading to the 325's and that was with the Moto Metal's. If you were to go to the 20"ø wheel they would rub bad because of the 10" width. BUT since the wheels are only 9" wide it does make some difference.
No lift= 285/65/18's
Leveling Kit= 305's (Not 100% sure on this one b/c I never ran this size tire; I'm judging by the clearance I had with the 285's and a leveling kit)
3" Lift= 325's (or preferably 35x12.50's) with a slight rub on the inner fender well liner and that is with some flex. None while just driving. You can take a zip tie and drill 2 small holes in the bottom of the fender well liner and pull it back. It won't rub then.
4" Lift= 325's (or preferably 35x12.50's) with no rub whatsoever unless you get into some heavy flex offroading.
5" Lift= No rub ever unless you go to a 37" tire.
I think the Moto's look fine with a 285/65/18 tire mounted on them if you are at stock heigth. Add a set of medium coverage fender flares and they look good to me. I do like a wider stance though so it really depends on what you like.
Also, I'm not trying to say anyone else here doesn't know what they are talking about. I realize you guys have lots of great advice and experience with different tires, wheels, etc. I'm just stating my own past experiences with these wheels and different tire setups on MY particular truck......
