a couple of reasons- the main one, i'll be installing an amsoil dual by pass filter set up in few months. it would just be easier for me to install it in an engine port,etc- considering where and how the bypass filter set up will be installed.

Go to www.bd-power.com click the BD manuals icon then enter part number 1050226 select download manual and the website will download in a .pdf format. You must have Adobe Acrobat reader which is a free download. Page 5 of this manual will show you where a port is on the engine block. Note this appears to be a straight thread with an o-ring shoulder seal. You can take that plug and drill and tap it to an appropriate NPT.

I have a Premo bypass filter and I installed a T at the stock oil filter port and then put my sending unit in the T. You can install a T and put a pipe plug in one of the outlets until you get your bypass filter. This port is already NPT so it is just a matter of selecting the appropriate sized T. One good aspect about this if you notice lower than normal pressure here you probably have a severe leak at your bypass filter. Good luck!

The oil ports on the engine itself are metric.

along the left side of the engine, there are 4 ports that are metric o-ring sealed fittings. 1 is not accessable [a m14x1.5 blocked by metal bracket below fuel filter housing] and another m14x1.5 port is where the factory oil pressure switch is.. above the ecm and right behind the cp3 are 2 other ports. they are m10x1.0 threaded. you can simply buy an adapter piece to go from m10x1.0 to a 1/8"npt or a -3 or -4 jic fitting...

i was going to use the port under the cp3, but the hose i used was rubbing on the control actuator on the cp3, so i moved to above the ecm when i mounted my gauge.
