I ran power to my switch directly from the battery also. I hate poking existing wires looking for something hot, and I hate taking interior panels off also.
Ahh, don't do that. The Commander is really easy to do. I'm about as lazy as they get when it comes to doing my own installs, but I did the Commander and Xzillaraider myself (along with my light bar and lights). It mostly unplugging connectors, plugging in new connectors, then tidying up the wiring harness. Piece of cake!
B y the clock it was just a hair over 10 minutes. this comes unde rhte heading of "Why didn't I think of that?".

When the chip and commander get in, I am taking it to a pro to install. This has to go right the first time.

Don't throw yourself under the (ECM ) bus... you can install the Quad goodies with our moral support!
Besides, installation on those is designed to be idiot-proof.
