Not happy with Banks
My banks exhaust brake started to stick in the closed position, well I got the chance to look at it a couple of days ago and the actuator (air cylinder) had water and sand in it. I called on a price of a new one and was quoted $450. So I take it apart, cleaned it and I need 1 O-ring. I call banks technical support and the part is 65 cents but he is not allowed to sell it .
I am sure I can find the o-ring I need somewhere but it is just going to take some time. I just can't believe they won't sell me a 65 cent part and instead expect me to pay $450.
I am just thankfull I didn't buy their Intercooler could you imagine blowing a intercooler boot, and in order to get a new boot you have to buy the whole intercooler kit
I am offically done with banks!! I will fix the brake myself but I just can't do anymore business with a company that won't sell a 65 cent part.

Yeah, that blows.
Try Lowe's. They've got those nice bins with all the little random parts in it. Also some auto stores have got those parts too.
As you said, it might take some time. But at least its something you can fix on your own.

The Banks brake really did work well. And here I was proud to get the banks exhaust brake to work on my truck.(originally on my 04) Everything, exhaust and wiring was a custom job to get it to work on a 06.

Off the subject a bit but, I looked at a Banks High Ram intake and was NOT impressed to see the inside was rough not smooth! That won't be any good for air flow! Just my 2 cents!

Bank's solitation
I almost bought Bank's stuff nearly eight years ago. Yesterday,I had a message on my machine from Bank's saying "they hadn't heard fom me in awhile" and to contact them! I know with the economy and all things are slowing down but Jeez...eight years nothing and now out of the blue?

Don't know how much you know about o-rings, but you need to make sure that when choosing a replacement that the cross section is the same, not just the diameter. Try to find a local place that supplies hydraulic parts. Just take the o-ring into them and let them match it up.

The one o-ring has what I would call a flare on one side. I am going to go to a place called Dakota Hydro, if they don't have it then I am in trouble

Flat out Banks customer service sucks, I had there stuff on my Dmax and we waited for a LONG time and they missed many ship dates. Anyway I had a problem and for a month I was told I would have the update in my email, after a month of lies I pulled it all back out and sent it back. Then they dragged there feet getting my refund processed.

thats the same way it was my buddy had his fass pump go out on his 01. they told him he had to buy the whole system again instead of just letting him buy a pump. thats pretty stupid after you pay hundreds of dollars for anything that they just cant sell you parts to fix it. banks power is well known and thats all they are.

Well I looked everywhere for the right o-rings and just couldn't find them so I call Banks and order the part Said it should come a on Dec 27th. Well still no part so I call them up and and they are having difficulties making new ones and are tearing up the o-rings (the part I need)
I did get the bill on the Credit Card which really makes me mad. So now I have payed for a part that I don't have, that I am being overchared for in the first place. I just can't win. The parts bill is for $480 and I am starting to think I might be best to buy a different brand.
OR what do you think would happen if came up with a device to open and close the valve would it wreck anything?? I think it might which is the reason I havent tried it yet.
