High. I have tried posting this same question on another forum, and nobody has answered it in 2 days, so I'll ask here where a lot more people veiw the posts. And hopefully it won't get moved.

As anyone can see in my sig. I have a BDPP and Edge Juice stacked. I have not dyno'd the two together, but I got 376hp/680tq just from the Bully Dog, so I know I'm @425-450 now. Yesterday, I ran a 14.4 1/4mi.@104mph. I know it is hard to get a good launch with a 2wd, but I know my trap speed is a little fast. So what sort of times could I be getting if I get better at the start. And can anyone here reccomend anything that could help.

I've done a 13.88 @ 101mph with the tranny slipping to high heavens, so assuming you can get a killer 60' like a 1.7-1.8 you'd be in the very low 13's.

Forgot to add, I've ran 14.3 @ 96mph on 37" tires weighing in at 7,820lb.

Couldn't tell you anything about Ram times, but I do know that the first 60 feet makes a huge difference at the other end so working on the launch should give you noticably better times.

What are your 60ft times?

Your reg cab is probably a pretty light truck, but to have a trap speed that high, yet a trap time that slow, I would think you would need well over 550hp and have a severe tire spinning problem all the way through the first 60ft. Are you running at a track or taking all of your numbers off of your Attitude Monitor?

It is all about the launch. Getting good, consistent launches in 2wd is not easy. Practice, practice, practice. Sticky slicks on the back will help. If you can just hook-up, knocking a full second off should be cake.

At 1st, I was only getting them off the monitor. Then I was reading 14.7-15.1@99mph consistantly. I know it felt faster so when I took it to the track, thats when I pulled the numbers listed above. My 60ft times are in the 2.3-2.5sec range. I have as yet to try and lower my air pressure in the rear tires . I know next to slicks, it the best thing to do. I is real difficult to get on the throttle without spinning to high heaven, until the truck has rolled about 2 truck lenghts after coming off the launch at 1500rpm's. My 1/8mi times avg. 9.2-9.4@85 or so.

Remember, sometimes a little tire spinning is your friend.
It can get the RPM up, and prevents part failures (Clutch Discs, Input shafts, U-Joints, Rear Gearsets) from the high torque suddenly shocking the driveline.

^^^ I gotta remember that line for the next time I get pulled over by the po po,,,,, officer, honest I was trying to prevent shocking my driveline with all the torqe by letting a little leak out into tire spin.......

SS, Drop the tire pressure, load the tires , warm them up good prior to launch. (see AK RAM's tire warm up), make sure the axle locks by practicing and checking your burnout marks, and keep practicing. ks

Yep. That's about it. My big heavy truck will run 8.2s in the 1/8th with no tire slipping. With as much power as you have and as light as the back end of your truck is, that is going to be critical. Just lowering pressure may not be enough with that much power. You may have to pick up a set of slicks for the back to control that beast. Stopping the tire spin off the line and through the 60ft mark is going to help you tremendously. Sticky tires and practice, practice, practice. It's fun, ain't it!

THANX for all the help. Yup! I figured that was the next step. Couple more questions though. How well does the drivetrain hold up to repeated dragstrip use? And where do I find slicks to fit the rear and clear the brakes. I can't find any 17'' slicks that are at least as tall as the factory rubber. What pressure do you reccomend lowering to, cause I know if you go too low the rim can slip inside the tire and pop the bead.

SS, Drag Radials run at 15 to 25 psi depending on set up and condition. Stock tires will probably pop the bead at 25 psi under our torque, especially with tall sidewalls. The wider the rim the firmer and wider the contact patch. Most of the drag radials are smaller diameter so top speed will be limited. Toyo performance tires for trucks are popular for truck racing as they come in larger diameters, you can drive to the track and they are durable.
My choice for a set of drag wheels and tires would be 18" Toyo Proxes s/t on bead locks.
The fronts I'd match for diameter only and run a stock tire as I'm 4x4.
I saved my Cooper M/S which are now almost slicks as they are very soft compound. I'd use those to drag race as that will give me tons of rear traction with the dualies.
To help with traction you can move your batteries to the very back of the truck and use a 20 or 30 gallon fuel cell mounted in the spare tire spot. These diesel trucks are way nose heavy so anything you can hang past the rear axle will help you hook up. ks
