Nightmare installing EGT/Boost Gauge
#31
Billyram, I like the gauge, it's easy to read for me at least, and it's a combo which fits in the single pod on my srt-10 pillar. I just got a bum gauge, and westach is sending me a new one. Thanks for the suggestions and help all.

I hope they get you a good one soon after what you went through. Working on your truck is suposed to be relaxing and you want things to work after waiting for what you want. I like dealing with Geno's too.

Lightman,
I hope everything goes better with your next gauge. I have the combo gauge and love it. It is easy to read, and I can read both with one glance. I admit I would have never bought one without seeing one in person. I was not sure it would be easy to read untill I saw one in person. Again good luck with the next one.

Thats interesting you have the same problem. What did you use for the power source?

Zilla - it wasn't hard to take ONE screw out and pop the dash off to get to the cig lighter wire, or to take ZERO anything out to tap the brake controller wire. Hey you had to pop the fuse cover off!!

put dripocol gauges in mine, here is what Banks said to do with the drilling and tapping of the exhaust manifold. First, duct tape most of the exhaust tip closed, get you drills and tap ready, start the truck, and start making chips. the exhaust will blow the chips out of the hole so definately wear eye protection. I recommend hi temp gloves also, by the time you get to tapping, your hands will become quite hot. 4000 miles so far after install and no leaks or issues.

I just installed the Westach Dual high performance gauge and I am having the same problem with the boost gauge,I have the 12 volt wire hooked direct to the accesories fuse and as soon as I hook up the ground the needle goes up to 2 1/2 or 3,so I checked the ground and tryed different spots and it still doing it.
I will try a different 12 volt spot.I just got this gauge from Genos.
Also the EGTs climb real fast with the EZ set on #4,I have stock exhaust and airbox, but it didnt go passed 1100 and doing about 70 on the expressway it was about 500 to 600 degrees, does this sound right?
My 2000 was post turbo so it acted different all together..

Dave, that makes 3 of us now with defective gauges doing the same thing. Don't bother trying another source, this is becoming a consistent issue. Maybe a bad run of gauges. Who knows.
