Re:nice nerfs 4 new ride?

I put the black painted bars on an old Chebby I had after about 5 years they looked awful. I went with the platinum westins. I got them from Advanced Auto, they were less than $350 but I did have to put them on myself. Now I don't have to worry about looks or durability. ;D
Good luck Choosing

Re:nice nerfs 4 new ride?

I bought the Westin Platinum Wheel to wheel nerfs for my truck. $475 delivered and I installed them myself. If you qualify for the Dodge "Automobility" program, Dodge will pay $400 for the addition of nerfs or running boards. My wife is 5' 1" and had knee surgery. Her doctor wrote a note on his letterhead, I completed the paper work I got off the Dodge web site, sent it all in and received a check. So, my nerfs cost me $75.00. Made my wife (and me, thanks Dodge) really happy.

One more question... Do those CYC-Engineering bars bolt on w/o drilling? If so, any install problems?-Steve

Re:nice nerfs 4 new ride?

Hi guys,

some time ago, I posted a picture of a 03 truck. I really liked the nerf/step bars on it. They look more off-road than show and fit tight to the truck. Anyway, I found the company N-Fab. I contacted them with no response. I contacted them again yesterday and they emailed me last night sometime. Check out the web site. Some of you men or ladies may like this look. I have no other information. I will try to call them today and post back the price and installation method. I would like to try these if they aren't too much $$$.

Re:nice nerfs 4 new ride?

N-Fab bar info - FYI

1 step at each door in black powder coat = $449.00
1 step at each door and 1 at the bed (bpc) = $499.00

Drilling IS required - 3/8" drill bit

I did not inquire about colors or LWB models.

Re:nice nerfs 4 new ride?

I to put the regular chrome Westin nerf bars on my truck. I had always put it off in the past, did not want to spend the $$. This has been the best money I have spent on my truck. They cost around $300- I installed them myself-easy to do. They are almost a "must have" for the wife-espicially if she has a dress on. They look great and seem to be strong. Not really sure how much weight they can handle?

When I buy another truck, this will be a must have add-on.. There are many different name brands- I'm sure most of them are good, but I KNOW Westin is.........

Re:nice nerfs 4 new ride?

I installed the Cyc-Engineering/Raptor bars on my truck last Friday. Went on without a hitch and pretty solid, I bounced on it with my 210lb frame and the bars didn't bulge. Can't say the same with the Westin bars on my wife's Isuzu Rodeo.

Yeah, I'm really happy with my CYC bars. You can't really beat them for the price. Not to mention how sturdy they are.

I was looking at the web page for the cyc eng. bars. I do not know how the other brands install, but I see on their web page that there is only 1 bolt on each end of the nerf bar. So I kinda wonder, how strong is that? What if the truck hits something underneath the bar?

Maybe they are all installed that way, I'd like to know. It just doesn't seem like two bolts in the end of the entire nerf bar would be all that strong.

also, I see that they are 3 inch bars, are some 4 inch? What is Westin?

I bought a set of 3 step N-FAB bars for mine. You can have the factory powder coat to your truck color or have them fabbed out of stainless steel. The mouniting system is proprietary in that they mount to the lip on the bottom of your body. You can get single, double or triple step design. They advertise them in 4 wheeler magazine and also have a website www.n-fab.com. They are really stout and offer a great entry step for elevationally handicapped people (short leggers).

Prices vary, but then they are not your average nerfs either....

Gary
