Next 48RE Upgrade Question

OK, I've got the Transgo shift kit on the way. I was reading on Mr Goerend's website and he recommends the following upgrades to go along with a shift kit: Front drum seals, stronger 1-2 band apply lever, new strap and anchor and a band apply piston. Anyone ever done these upgrades?

I saw the band lever ($42.00) and the anchor ($20.00) on the DTT website. Where can I find this other stuff (Band Apply Piston, new strap, front drum seals) and can these parts be upgraded with the trans still in the truck or does it have to come out? I will be doing this myself and would like to get all these upgrades done at one time but I am not planning on removing the tranny. Thanks.

PACT does have a lot of stuff on their site but it sure it hard to find. Not a very well organized website. The #4NUB kit for $352.00 looks to have all this stuff. Is that what you were talking about 1985cucv?

Billet front servo with the extra seals

Billet band strut and anchor, the 48RE already has a 5.0 apply lever and unless you want billet there is no reason to upgrade it.

Billet accumulator with better seals

Those are the minimum pieces you need with the shift kit. They can all be installed without removing trans. If he is talking about the front clutch apply piston seal that will take removel and disassembly, as will updating the hub seals on the pump snout which may be what he is referencing.

If the tranny is out, go with the billet apply lever. Dave G showed me an entire tool chest drawer completely full of broken levers.
