Newbie ?s for all. Thx
Hi all Great Site. I just purchased My 1st Dodge, got red of the 6.0 (no)Power stroke. It is a 2006 2500 Quad cab 4x4 Auto. It already has a K&N filter in factory box and the cat delete pipe with a magnaflow straight through muffler on it. Has a 6 inch Superlift with 35 inch Procomp tires on 18 inch Panther rims. I do some towing about 8000# trailer, but it mostly a dailly driver. I am looking for some more power better milage although I am getting almost 1/2 again more than with the Ford. I read great things about the Smarty on here and the AFE stage 2 intake kit, so I am thinking of getting those. Good bad indifferent please let me know what else or somthing different to purchase. I will want to kick my budies but in his Duramax also!!

Smarty is good. Any after market air box will give you just improved turbo sing, no big HP gains. Exhaust my help lower your EGT's and lower your spool up time. You already have a 4" exhaust. Good up to 450-500HP. You already hace a muffler switch. Just don't do any prolonged idleing. These engines don't like it. If you do, have an exhaust brake or the high idle enabled. Unless you have a modded VB, idle in N.

valve body in the tranny. I believe high idle can be enabled by the dealer. You probably wont have an exhaust brake, but it can be purchased through a dodge dealer, or aftermarket.

I wouldn't plan on seeing anything with the afe.....But instead of a smarty, which is a great product, I would suggest the edge juice with attitude. It's a complete combo, module and gauges.

both the afe and smarty sound like great choices to me. i just ordered my afe st II with the dry flow today. and smarty will be soon when the get the hot programs figured out soon. your exhaust should work good for you, i'd get a different filter setup. heard of ppl having problems with the k&n's. i'd get gauges or a commander before anymore power. and with big tires pulling a trailer i'd consider a converter and valve body. or drive it with eggs under your pedal. good luck with the switch

Smarty's are new so they're all the rage, but don't discount the Bully Dog Triple Dog, tons of power and lotsa features as well, a few for sale in the classifieds.
AFE's aren't worth what they're selling them for IMO, no way they're worth at least $200 more than the competitors, I went with an S&B.
