Newbie After-market Questions?

I have a 2006 2500 Quad Cab that I bought new, its completely stock except for the 305's; since the warranty is out I was planning on starting to trick it out with aftermarket gear. After reading some posts, it seems like I may need to leave it be..... If not, what are the top three things to do?

I'd like to have boosted performance off-road and increased fuel milage on-road. I'm not too bad off now on the highway...avg about 21 if I stay out of it. Thanks for the help!

1. Fuel Filtration
2. Gauges
3. Programmer

What kind of off-road toys do you want?

Cool. Thanks for the help. I understand the programmer, I've seen Smarty on this board and heard about the Bully as well. I assume the gauges would be for temp etc.... What about fuel filtration system, are these pretty easy to install?

Yeah they aren't too bad, depending on the kit you get. GDP makes some great filter kits.

Just a bit of advice, if you're resourceful you can make a kit that's comparable to many aftermarket ones and save a few bucks. Good luck with the new truck.

Let it breath. Get an air intake and if you want straight pipe it or take off the catalytic converter and get a new muffler. Then i would get a programer and do the other stuff.

The stock intake/exhaust are adequate for up thru 450 rwhp. There are a couple mods you can do to improve throttle response and mid-range power but the OEM system flows more than plenty, and doesn't need to be on the list of first things to do.

Boost, EGT, Fuel Pressure, Trans temp (if auto).

If its an auto start a savings fund to upgrade it.

Makes sense that the stock tranny wouldn't handle it, suprised it hasn't needed some attention already... I assume someone could rebuild and beef it up. Would I just give them a hp rating?
