New wheels and tires today, some concerns answered
There seems to have been a lot of concern over what tires and wheels fit and what will not fit on the 2003 and up trucks. Especially where the wheels are concerned
I'm no expert on this stuff, but I did a lot of research and asked a whole lot of questions before making the leap with this wheel and tire match.
First it's clear that 37" tires have plenty of room with the 4.5" tough country lift. I had read here and other places that there was no way 37's would fit, and I also that they would fit with no problem. They fit fine. Here is the proof with a photo that they fit perfectly.
Then the wheel backspace issue. These are Mickey Thompson Classic locks in 17X9 with 5" backspace and "0" offset. They allow 12.5" tires to do a lock turn and still have about 1.5-2" of clearance to the control arms. Plenty if I chose to go with a 13.5" tire. If you wanted less tire to stick out and were never going to go wider then a 12.5" tire find a wheel that has 5" backspace and is only 8" wide. This would move the tire closer to the body by a 1/2 inch and make it a near perfect fit to the edge of the sheet metal. If you want to go bigger then 12.5 then you need the 9" or 10" wheels anyway.
I don't think these tires stick out at all excessive and actually I feel it's about as good as it gets for tire clearance on the fenders and control arms with a 37X12.50 tire. Not much is more silly looking on a 4X4 then having the tires and wheels sticking out like pontoons next to the truck!
My rpms are just at 1800 while going 70MPH now too. My 410 ratio is far better with these tires then with the stock tires or the 34" tires I had. They also ride much softer and give me a way quieter and more comfortable ride.
Front tire clearnce where the most likely contact point is at. Lots of room even if bouncing with a full lock turn
Side view with the Micky Thompson classic lock wheels. These are the nicest wheels I have ever seen for a 3/4 ton truck.........Plus they fit so good
Front view you can see the distance they stick out compared to stock, about an inch and a half difference from the 12.5's on the stock wheels. This gives you the control arm clearnce needed.
Wheel close up. Not a true beadlock wheel, but greatly added protection from damage to the bead itself. (True beadlock wheels are not street legal)

nice,
do you have the side view to show how far the tires are out from the sheet metal?
Im still trying to decide what to do with wheels. Stock, H2, or something like you just did.
thanks

I don't think that view will help you see much. I have Bushwacker fender flares on the truck. The tires are about 1/2-3/4" beyond the sheetmetal at the most from what I can tell. With the flares they are well under them.
I just measeured this so you can see for yourself. The rear tires from the frame rail to the outside edge of the tire is 19.5"
The front tire from the frame rail to the tires outside edge is 24.25" Since I no longer have the stock tires to measure I cannot compare the distance to them. I would guess it's within an inch or so. If you look at the front view above the tires are under the truck and not sticking out any noticable amount.

Looks nice. Im a fan of the wide tires, just not when they throw mud all over the place after I wash it.
If you don't mind me asking, what did your whole setup run you? For the wheels & tires.
