Last year turbo shopping I was set on the garrett, but due to problems with the manufacture defect of the coolant lines it was unavailable. I was dealing with tom at turbo resource (great guy/service). Being impatient bought a bd killer b which is a rebranded borg warner 63/65/14 and their exhaust manifold. Going from the stock he341 to a killer b i cranked up the smarty revo to level 9. Now talk about fun except was getting the pop/ backfire noise and with my built auto, could bark to turbo if not carefull on the shift to overdrive with high boost. Played with the timing, rail pressure, torque options etc but nothing got rid of it. I have had my smarty since april 2007 and been real cautious getting supporting mods. Just switched to revo tnt-r sw5, tm3, tq3, rp2, rev limiter and shift defuel stock. Never has my truck run so well.... No pop, no turbo bark and my built tranny is a beast but smooth shifting. I think it is all about the right programming. I now have a 3.5 ton 4x4 reg cab truck/sport car that outright waste 95% of the tuners that wanna play. Next mod are smarty injectors and maybe the bd cp3 or some other brand. Any suggestions dudes?

Your dead on its a lot to do with tuning.you would not believe the power gains with efi live if your truck was a 06 or later model. If you are using the smarty you may want to go with the ssr for more fine tuning.

I was actually just looking into going to an S06 with the TNT software upgrade. Perhaps it doesn't have enough tuning features for what I need? I know it has a lot more than the Jr, but I have never seen one in person to know the whole difference.

N. Johnson, for the cp3 I just put on an Indust. Inj. 85% over and so far it's been great. If I get the S06 or SSR I guess that would really put it to the test to see how good of a pump it is.

N. Johnson, I know the SSR is a Super Sport Revo, but I also found a S06 they are calling a revo with the tnt upgrade, and tnt-r upgrade which is a more race tuned setting, with an additional 35hp per setting! Are you running the S06 revo or the SSR with that tuning listed? I would like to get rid of that turbo bark also!

I,m using the S06 with tnt-r and since no turbo bark of timing pop/back fire i used to get with revo on level 9.

I just put on the s06 revo, and man it made a huge difference. it spools quicker and no more bark. runs a world better. I thought about doing the TNT but haven't decided yet.

I will admit, the 62/71/13 I have is hard to negotiate heavy loads, I have to hold my rpms high for it to recover the egts and keep the smoke away, but empty, man is it fun!!!

Put in a Hamilton 188/208 cam like I have and that will change. I did that and the Steedspeed 3rd gen exhaust manifold and it is like night and day.
