New Truck Performance Q&A....

Hi gang, been browsing the site and have a few general questions. First, I'm sitting in Iraq for a while longer and then it's back to Alaska to start adding all the goodies onto my new '06 2500 Mega Cab CTB. Please comment on the following questions:

1) Where is the silencer ring and what (stupid question?) does it silence?

2) Is 'debadging' a truck simply the process of pulling the labels/emblems off with your hands?

3) Are their any recommended headers for my application? Is it worth while (I'll be running Banks Moster Dual Exhaust)?

4) Any custom fit sub-woofer boxes made that you'd recommend for this truck cab?

5) Mag Hi-Tec Differential Covers worth putting on the truck?

6) Any other recommendations that would be reasonable to get another 25-50 HP out of the truck? I'm not looking to build an extreme hauler or drag truck. What I'd like is a street (occassional off-road) use truck that will look, sound, and FEEL like it's got some *****!

Thanks much in advance,
Phil

-if you pull off you intake tube on your turbo you will see a little ring around the inside that’s the silencer ring you can pull that off with pliers. Now if you really want it to sound like it’s got a huge turbo get an AFE stage II intake with torque tube. The turbo screams so loud some changed the air intake because it was too loud for them.
-as far as headers you have an inline six so there is a header and you can replace the exhaust manifold from ATS but if you are not upgrading the turbo or fueling it is kind of a waist of money.
- As far as the subs go since you have a mega cab there are companies out there that make boxes that can fit 2 12" subs behind the rear seats, any local audio shop should be able to help you out.
- as far as getting some ***** I would recommend a downloader of some sort if your starting off tuning your truck and don’t want to go crazy. I my self love my Bully Dog Downloader and ran it on performance everyday till I got all my other chips. But all you do is plug it in wait five min and you have gained 90hp just like that. This chip has a tow setting which I don’t like personally, and then a performance which I think is great for everyday driving and crazy laryy which is a blast. Crazy larry will add 230hp alone but before you do any of this you need gages and I would highly recommend an intake and exhaust. Plus since you have an auto with extra power you will eventually need to upgrade it. Hope this helps

Also consider that some of the mods will void your warranty. Of course this depends on what kind of relationship you have with your dealer. You might ask them what you could add to your truck that they would not mind, and still honor your warranty.

I wouold hate for you to have something go wrong, and then they not help you out.

Where in Iraq...

Tyler,
Sitting here in Tall Afar. Can't wait to get home and drive that new truck, then drive my wife (wink, wink!), in that new truck! BDS lift goes on and pics should be delivered via email on the 28th/29th! Stay as safe as you can afford to. I've realized that being shot at is an emotional experience. LOL.

Thanks for serving your country! Keep your truck stock and you already have a good strong truck for what you want without warranty problems. It will pull a house as it is. Get the sounds systems you want and just drive it a few hunderd thousand miles trouble free. Thats my advice.

I'd love to own(not pay for) a 3rd gen. D/C is voiding warranties left and right for valid reasons in some cases. Don't give them an excuse to void yours. You guys have a powerful, quiet truck that stops and steers super. Leave the drivetrain alone. Just my opinion.

SGT Peper, all who served or are serving, and all who appreciate the service of others and say so, I thank you for your sacrifices and support. That's all the servicemember really needs from his countrymen....a kind word and knowing that they give a **** about him/her and what he/she has done for them.
