If I had to purchase a new 07, I would buy an early 07 with the 5.9 and stay away from the 6.7. You can avoid the EGR and have piece of mind with the ol 5.9. Just my .02 cents.

I kinda want it all lol. I am really getting into the sledpulling world so I was thinkin a six speed, but at the same time I still want to get a few "kills" on the street. I plan to modify quite a bit over time and I still tow sometimes. I absolutely love the look of a lifted dually , but just not quite sure yet on exactly what I'll choose ,but the biggest dilema right now is the auto or the manual?

Bit of everything, sled pullin =) , quick on street, tow once in a while, love the look of a dually with about a 4" lift, not sure if i want an auto or manual yet. lookin for people's opinions on what they like and why. Thanks

I too went with a early 07 so I could get the 5.9. I like being able to run different fuels in it and all the new emissions stuff definately kept me from being one of the first to own one.

i would go with a earlier 3rd gen,i tried an 06 and i didnt like the new 6spd.the earlier ones have less polution stuff and the real early ones{like my 04}dont have the 3rd injection event which gets better milage,so they say.with a predator tuner only uwill get over 450hp{on a 305/555}.add a larger turbo to cool her and maybe a presure box and you should be close to your goal, for sledpulling im guessing you will need a heavy duty doulbe disc clutch.

For me:
Auto...Knees aren't friendly to pushing a clutch in traffic anymore!
QC...Haul the family around
Dually...boat + slide in camper (eventually)
Cummins....'nuff said
3.73 open diff....better mpg and did not like what I heard about the 'posi' unit from the factory.
Laramie....for all the creature comforts...Heated seats are REAL nice on LONG drives.

I would get an 04.5-06 5.9 if you want to mod it. I like my 06 but like the interior better in the 05 personally. my truck has responded to mods pretty well and so did my 05. 03-04 trucks are still better than having a vp44 pump that goes out all the time, but its your call. I pretty much like any 3rd gen trk
