A New style SRT-10 hood
I was at a racing shop in Santee CA, when a gentleman pulled up in a truck similar to mine. When I asked where he got his hood, He told me he makes them himself at his shop. One of the many things he does is fibreglass molds and this is the only one like it. I think it looks much smoother than factory replacements, the inlet and cowl are larger and the vents are functional. there is a second piece of composite material on the underside that also helps drain excessive water that comes in the vents. He has recorded 20* drop in oil temps on his gas truck.

That's the Venom hood. It is a good looking hood. I know someone who has one, looks sharp, even better in person. It is a little hard to judge the right front corner looking over the hood scoop from the drivers seat. I suppose it would take a little time getting used to the visibility differences. I also suppose you would have to use some dynamat to keep the heat from distorting it as well, fiberglass does distort some when there is a lot of heat. The vents would allow for some pretty good air flow through the engine compartment, good winter defrosters eh?
I like the factory SRT-10 hood, been considering one, but also, I have been considering the Venom hood as well. I need a push in one direction or the other to finally decide . .
Since people are used to seeing the SRT-10 hood, you could still get away with being a sleeper so to speak regarding your power or mods, this hood wreaks with telling people you have MORE than what it takes to kick some butt . .

Yup. It's not the only one out there regardless of what that guy said. Personally, I think it sits too high off the hood. I prefer the factory style SRT10 hood and I wish I still had mine...

I can't help you there. Also, I should clarify that I was not necessarily saying that the guy was lying about making that hood and it being the only one there is. What I meant to say was that I have definitely seen a very similar hood on this and other forums.

Maybe the guy WAS the guy who makes them and maybe he was referring to it being unique and the only hood out there this unique. Words and their meanings . . sometimes get mis-con-screwed . .

Thats not him, He is in El Cajon (southern California) but i definately saw the mold and one that was just finished. Im sure one of them worked for the other back in the day, just like other popular/similar products. I did get mine plus a grill for cheaper than that one, but that was before paint.
Thats a bummer, I'm taking my truck back to NC in August, I thought I would have some rare equip. from the West coast, but turns out I live within an hour of that shop that sells those hoods.

The side vents and the larger scoop opening are great for releasing underhood heat, most customers have noticed a 20 degree drop in underhood tempuratures. The hood comes with or without screens in the vents and scoop, but we do not ship the hoods painted, they are fiberglass and come primered. they also have trays underneath the side vents to help with heat and to keep the vital engine components dry
