The standard box at the 60 hp rating should give me the same results as the XZT right?

Qzilla will have to answer that question for you------I would think that it would?????????!!!!!

I'm hoping that the XZT is a Fuel Saver come Friday. If not I will be sending it back probably and running something that dosent alter the Injector/Fuel Pressure.

I run the std box, I tow up to a 14,000 lb 5th wheel, have been all through the western states and yellowstone. No problems with egt on the 60 hp setting, cannot compare it to the tow box as haven't tried it. I also get the best mileage on the 100hp setting. Ben running it for 20k plus with no problems. Smooth power, good egt's and no tranny slip.

Thanks for the response, what kind of mpg are you getting on the different settings?

my normal mileage is not a good representation for you. I pull a 5000 lb trailer about 25,000 miles per year, running east to west coast at speeds of 75 to 85 mph, normal is 10.6 to 11.5, once got 14.5 running 65 mph. once going to bryce canyon one day and zion the next (running 70mph) i got 20 mpg and 21 mpg (1st day on 60hp and 2nd day on 100hp) running empty, this is hand calced and about 200 mile runs. Best on 14000 lb trailer was 11.5 running 70. power band likes 70-72 for easy cruising, if i towed heavy all the time 4.10 would be best and could run lower speeds. Only tow heavy 3-5000 miles per year so 3.73 is best for cross country that i do, once you run consistantly over 2000 rpm in all goes down hill. I do 35,000 a year average with my business, we don not drive stupid but we do cruise to get where we are going. Unless we get slowed down by a motor home or big truck we never shift out of overdrive for any hill and we go over some big ones. best truck i've had, the quad runs strong, only went to 30 hp once towing, long grade, slow trucks, turned down for egt's.

Unhappy NOT REAL HAPPY Now!

------ Well here are the Result's for all that was concerned!!

563.5 Miles------------Filled her back up to the little drain hole in the Filler Neck with 36.143 Gallons (Long Bed)-----this equals to 15.590 MPG-- !

** I'm not that happy with the MPG that this was supposed to give me and my results! Beleive me when I say that I drove the truck the exact same way that I always do and I'm not sure what to do now------- I like the Smooth Power Band--------Do not like the Injector Noise--------After Filling Up today, I hooked the 21' CC SeaFox up----loaded with Gas 104 Gallons + Fishing Gear------ and just Towed it to work (2nd Shift)---- and like the Power that it has.
I have Towed 16k with this Truck stock and was happy with the way the Truck Handled the weight. I can imagine that it would be allot better with the XZT, but I think that the Mileage is going to suffer greatly. Maby I need a big intake and better exhaust !

SO====== I will be putting about 600 miles on the Truck this weekend Towing this Boat to Virginia Beach, VA, to do some Striper Fishing. I will hand calculate the MPG with the Boat in tow and let everyone know how it does. This will be at 67mph with the Cruise Set 100% Highway! The stop and go RPM's will never exceed 2400 before a shift and I slow down primarily by just coasting as much as possible!! This will Make or Break the XZT for me------ I hand calculated 11.7 MPG Towing the 16k back from Cape Lookout at around 65 mph average!

Re:your test results

Boostjunkie,
I've been following your test on the xzt. I have a 2003 Quad HO 6spd and tow a 10,000 lb 5th wheel. I have been considering the xzt for my truck, but your results are sad ! I think you did everything right to get the best results the tow box had to offer.

Art,,

Yea I feel the same way about it------- I was really wanting the Box to perform like QuadZilla states! I know that UP-TO 4mpg is the catch in the whole phrase, but a negative number compared to stock is bad in my book. I really like the power and how the truck drives/runs now but cannot live with the negative MPG's.
I think that I will be checking the empty mileage when I get back next week to really confirm to my-self and others what the XZT is all about. BECAUSE----There are like 12 people that are waiting on my report to descide wether or not to purchase one.

Boostjunkie1 what MPG where you getting without the box. This is why I'm thinking about the standard box with the 100 hp rating. It should give me better MPG than the 60 hp, and I can use the 100 HP level to pull my 18.5 foot Dargel flat bottom boat (2,500 LBS). How bad is the injector noise?

Without the Box I averaged in the High 17's.---Injector Noise is not what I would call Harsh, but VERY obviouse. EXPECIALLY when towing at 65 MPH and you hit a hill and have to give it a little Fuel to spool. It is a rapid ticking/squeal noise that you cannot hear with the radio on. No one that has rode with me has ever said anything about the noise but with me knowing how these trucks sound Stock----it irks me! Plus, I dont like all the Pressure Related problems with injectors that are going on and it sounds like it is taxing the injectors to much. At idle it is just a LITTLE bit louder than stock! To Sum it up----sounds like---- A V6 with Spark Knock on each cylinder rattling away.

I may try the 100hp Box and see if that will net better MPG's------just dont like the injector noise. If I had the Commander I could just turn it off until I needed it---wait----I can put the Bypass plug in it and check both way's this weekend to see which is better Towing Mileage----Stock, or XZT!!!!! I will do this and report on Monday the Results!
