New Mp3 Player install

I guys and gals,I asked this question when I had my 98.5 3500 4x4 with the infinity stereo. Has anyone changed just the deck on an '03 or later with the infinity system. I want to leave factory speakers and amp alone. Is there a proper wiring adapter/interface for this job that will have all the speakers working properly? I've been to a few stereo sites( Crutchfield,Sound Domain, etc) and there's conflicting info on the subject. The adapter I used in my 98.5 did not allow my 'A' pillar tweeters to work, and I had to by-pass the front amplified 6x9's and wire some aftermarket speakers in ( my factory 6x9's were shot anyway). It was a real pain. My new deck has 50watts x 4 so I'm wondering how that will match up to the factory amp. I imagine my speakers will not last too long, either. Thanks for your thoughts on this matter.

Something to consider. On my previous truck, I upgrade the head unit to an MP3 with the factory speakers. I bought a Blaupunk from Fryes for the same or better price as Crutchfield and they installed it for free. Did a great job.

If you are going to use the factory amp you will need to use the lineouts from the radio. The 50w channels in the radio are for the speaker outputs only, another words, if no external amp is being used.

Ya,MikeyB, that's a good point...sounds like it's not going to be a simple fix,if I use the line outs and bypass the amp...I'll have to hack into the speaker wires after the amp,or on each speaker themselves....not sounding like fun!(unless the factory amp has line outs to the speakers, then it might be a simple swap...anyone know?)

Check with Crutchfield for an adapter cable for the external amp bypass. I had to get one when I replaced the OEM stereo on my old Furd Exploder.
