New coil spring or spacer for Mega cab front

I want to raise the front end 2 inchs on my 06 2500 4x4 Megacab. I have a Superspring in the rear which raises the back an extra inch to inch and a half (carry a heavy camper)

I feel that it is a little mushy up front and if I go with a new spring I would want it a little firmer.

Questions:
Which is cheaper - I assume the spacer but by how much?

If anyone has gone stiffer on the coil what is the OEM strengh and how much higher did they go?

Where is a good place to order the coil spring?

How much harder is it to install the spring insteal of hte spacer?

Thanks in advance

The spacers can be had for about 70-80, the coils ive heard run 400-500. The install would be about the same on each, its really not to difficult.

I bought a set of Skyjaker D25 springs for my front end. I don't think they are any stiffer than the stock though. They ran me $145 and some change. Hope this helps

You'll be much happier with a SOFTER coil and a better shock to back it up. The only purpose of the spring is to hold up the front end and return the shock to tide height after it compresses. The "mushiness" (is that even a word?) is the lack of rebound dampening in your current shock.

I've been running 360# CSS coils for a little over 2 years now, they work great and no sag.

For comparison purposes, the stock coil rate is about 440-460 IIRC.

I am running Rancho 9000s set at the 8 (2nd highest) setting. I guess I like firmer rides in my trucks and cars.

4-500?

Got my springs off a buddy for $150, new superlifts...

Id prefer springs over the spacer, just imo....

Make sure you get longer shocks to match(might as well get better shocks while youre putting in the springs, since the stockers arent all that great)

Go with the springs I've personally seen tuff country lift blocks snap (on an 02'). Sky jackers were harder, superlift was a little soft but nice, fab tech is just right.

I went with the KORE HD Leveling kit. I have read quite a few posts regarding 'death wobble' and the one thing that many-larger % had in common was using the spacers. A spring change seems to most always lead you to a shock change. So, I decided to just put in a good, well known, and reliable package. I think Lorentz also has a good package, probably several others. Might as well do a good job the first time is kind of what I thought. I absolutely love the KORE system, mine has Bilstein 5100's, and I also added the Bilsteins in back.

Lundee...

If you can't fit 37's under a 5" lift on a 3rd gen...maybe that would explain why your Tuff spacers "snapped" in half.

There are no forces present in the spacer other than vertical compressive force...they will not break.

BTW...I have nothing against springs...some are soon to go on my truck...with small spacers...LOL.

Properly engineered spacers serve their purpose fine...and don't deserve a bad rap.

spacers were on an 02' w/ 35's . 05s' on a 5" suspension w/ 3" body to clear the 37, 13.5, r20's thats how I know the 37's won't fit had to make 90 point turns untill the body lift was installed. Just letting everyone know my experince w/ spacers not bad mouthing anyone

I bet you had wide rims with not enough backspacing?

With the correct rim width and the right backspacing...some people have fit them with as little as 2.5" of lift.

I did not mean to be too brash. Whoops...

10" rims 5.5 on back spacing and yep, they stick out had to put on fender flares. I went off the dealers max size they said would fit I guess they were wrong but, they made it right. Nice choice on tires we have the same pair I think? Can't say enough good about them.
