New ATS twins
I got my new Diesel Power magazine today and saw one of ATS's adds and noticed two new turbos in the lineup.
One is the A6000 and the other is the A7000.
The A7000 was the big turbo in a twins set using the A3000 on top. They called it the Magnum Compound system.
They also mentioned a twins set using the MST turbo over the A4000.
I also remember seeing another setup they have using the stock Holset turbo over an A4000.
With all these and their original set with an A5000 and either an A2000 or A3000 this comes up to about 5 different twins setups!
Mainly though I was wondering about the A6000 and A7000. Does anyone have any specs on these? They look to be pretty big!

Yeah, it stands for Multi Stage Turbo. Supposed to give you the fast boost and acceleration of a smaller turbo + the ability to build the large boost of a large turbo. It has a valve that opens and closes to diff. chambers depending on boost pressure. It sounds like an awesome setup but they have been talking about it for a few yrs now it seems. They continually say "Coming Soon....",. I would love to see how the thing works and hope it does arrive soon, but I won't start holding my breath.
Anyhow, here is a link the page that has the best pics and discription of it I've seen.

From what I've read the MST isn't like the 6.0's and the Dmax VGT turbos.
The MST from what I gather only has two positions, a big exhaust housing and a small exhaust housing. It starts out by closing off one of the volutes of the turbine housing forcing all the exhaust to flow through the other volute at low boost. A valve opens at some point and allows exhaust gases to flow through both volutes.
I do remember that someone around here has the MST on top of an A5000 in a twins setup.
I would like to find someone who has some info on the A6000 and A7000 though. Those look pretty big. ATS has never replied to any of my emails about anything so no info from them. I'm not interested in getting a twins setup with them or any twins from ATS I'm just curious about them.
