Put some more miles on your turbo...I thought the exact same thing when I got mine. After I put approx. 1K on it, it was night an day difference in spool-up. Also if you run the least amount of timing, it will aid in spool-up until you feel it loosen up then you can bump up the timing to your liking. When I started out I was running TNT SW#9 TQ-3, TM-4, RP-2, WG-OFF. This yielded the best smoke control and spool up until the turbo loosened up. With your 65 wheel your spool should be very close to stock even at 7000', once it loosens up...

Im running 1.8s a silverbullet 66 smarty and a little pressure. TNT on 3 rp 2 tq 3 timing 2 and I dont have trouble towing throught the black hills. I just have to pick a higher gear. Try some more smarty setting for daily driving.

I am getting pretty close to 1000 miles. I will be going on a 1200 mile trip this weekend and pulling a boat for half that. I will keep trying different setting and se what happens. I will be going down to about 2000' so that will tell what the effects of the elevation are. Hopefully the turbo will loosen up, I can not be in overdrive under about 65mph with out a steady trail of smoke. A buddy of mine used the truck to haul a 14' enclosed trailer loaded pretty heavy and got a whopping 11 mpg and he said it smoked the whole time.

Thanks guy I will keep trying.
Any more ideas would be great.

I experience the same thing this weekend. Even at 65mph it smokes steadily and I can't seem to find a good combo to tow with. I have the flux 2's and a stage 2 floor it cp3. This was at sea-level in the oregon dunes area. I have to run with o/d locked out to keep it from totally smoking but it still does somewhat.

When I get on it my boost will spike to 52 and then creep back down to around 45. HTT 62/71/13ss

Ty,

Did you try pinching the wastegate line? You might try it if you haven't.

I did pinch the wastegate line and really didn't tell that much difference in boost maybe built a little bit faster. I did change to timing 4 (for running nos) and it spools quick and the smoke on take off is way down. I did get most of the low end power back. Egts are down a little but it can still climb pretty high. I am alot happier with the performance. It will still smoke in overdrive cruising about 70 but that sounds common. I was going to email you tonight and give you an update. I have been working long hours and have not had much time to mess with the truck. I figured to give it some time and try different setting. Let me know what you think.

When you say that it smokes in overdrive cruising at 70.. Does it do it when just cruising along (no hills) and is it a kind of puffing somewhat constant stream of grey. Mine isn't black at that speed, its just a grey and it's a mostly constant stream of grey.

I get a steady stream of light grey also. I hate driving that fast with overdrive off, doesn't help fuel mileage.
