need some help just installed my new turbo....

hey guys i installed an II SPS66 on my truck the other day and i have an exhaust leak at the manifold to turbo the rear stud on the motor side seems like it is wedged up against the turbos exhaust housing and it wont alow the turbo to actualy come flush to the manifold was wondering if anyone had any ideas that can fix this with out having to buy a new manifold.

one of those nuts has to go on as the turbo is slid onto the studs. There's very little room between the turbo housing and how far that stud comes up. I hope that's understandable???

If you didn't do it this way, the easiest way to get it installed is to take the exhaust manifold off, mount the turbo and install it all together.

no i got all 4 nuts on but the stud coming down seems like it is bottoming out on the housing like the stud is to long.

did you install the new studs that came with the turbo ? Maybe you didn't get the one screwed down far enough ? If you did, the studs are the same size as the stock ones but, would need to be all the way in for it to work.

on my sps 62 the studs are shorter

no the 2 outer ones i nut and bolted them the 2 inners closes to the motor they are the stock studs in the manifold thats the one giving me problems

I had the same problem using the stock studs. Get the shorter ones.

My turbo came with shorter studs your supposed to install.

stud extractor or double up nuts and lock them together

mine screwed right out using some channel locks. The one's that came with the turbo will work. I just did this a few weeks back. The studs that II sends ( for the 66 anyway ) are the same size as the stock studs. Just take the old out and install the new ones. Just make sure you have them as far in as they'll go.
