Need help in a bad way (cp3)
I did the diy cp3 mod last night. It went ok except I had to pull off my gdp fuel filter to be able to get to the fca. I did both mods and the truck cranked and ran fine. I got a little bit of fluctuation in rp when I first cranked it up, but after that it quit and all was well.
The mod made a big differance in my truck, it was runnin like a scalded dog.
Well I went and got my buddy to let him feel the differance and on a HARD 5th to 6th shift the truck shut off and will not crank up.
The only thing differant about the truck is the cp3 mod. All settings and everything is the same.
CAN THE FCA STICK SHUT SO THE TRUCK WILL SHUT OFF AND WONT RUN?
If so I think this is the problem.
However I did get diesel on the plug that goes into the FCA, could that be a problem?
I am open to any and all suggestions, but I think I am gonna pull the fca off of another truck and put it on mine and see if that fixes it.
Oh and after it shut off and i got it off the road, I pulled the keys out and you could hear the grid heater runnin, no keys no nothin, and my check engine light was on too, still no keys in the ignition.
If the fca is shot, ok, it the cp3 is shot, ok, but please tell me nothin else is wrong right now.
Thanks for any help.

I have done 3 FCA. On my 2nd one the thing fell apart in the CP3. The bottom piece came off and the spring and plunger came out. If the plunger is stuck it wont run. All 3 of the FCA that I have done all flutter. I have no idea why. I have done all 3 less cut area. The first one I cut the bottom off totally, (I think it was the best one for fueling). The last one I just barely cut the bottom of the triangle and it flutters mainly when the engine is cold. Im wondering if its a TST thing. I dont know.

Will, i have done 2 cp3's and have no fluttering or sticking. unlikely that getting diesel on the plug will do anything.
grid heater running and cel on with keys in your hand? not cp3 related. sounds more like keyswitch trouble. it is possible that the fca valve can stick if not deburred completely, but that usually results in jerky fca operation, not outright stuck. operate your keyswitch a bunch of times and see what happens. keep up informed and good luck.

Thanks for the ideas guys. I guess I am gonna pull it back off after the family lunch thing and put on the other fca off another truck.
In my mind I am thinkin that when I let off the go pedal and the fuel pressure dropped it stuck shut. I hope that is what it is anyway.
If you guys think of ANY thing else please let me know.
I do realize it may not be cp3 related but it just seems that would be a huge coincidence.

On a side note. If the FCA is shot, should I buy a modded FCA, get another factory one and leave it alone until I can get a stage 2 pump, or just call John at floor it and see what I can do about a stage 2 pump now?
Also where can a get a factory FCA?
Anybody got one on hand they could over nite IF I need one?

Couldnt get any codes out of it. I clicked the key back and forth like you are supposed to and it never gave me any.
I was kinda frustrated and after tyrin to get the codes for a coupla minutes I unhooked the batteries, to see if I could clear what ever caused it to not run, but it didnt work. And I was on the side of a back road and it was 10 pm so I just wanted to get it home.
What about the clutch switch?
If it shorted (when I stomped it to shift to 6th) would that cause the truck to shut off?
I know it could cause it not to crank, but not sure about shuttin off.
I checked it last night and it was hooked up, but other than tapping it, I didnt try anything else.
Also, on where the wires plug into the sensor that plugs into the cp3 there was some clear odorless "goo". Reminded me of dielectric grease, but I dont know.
Also, the cp3 should be getting fuel. I cracked the line that runs into the gdp filter and it sprayed fuel everywhere. And my guage is reading 18-20 psi.
