Need to clear 37"s for now Any ideas?

Just got a good deal on a set of 37x12.5 Hankook Mts. I mounted the rears but with stock alloy 17"s and suspension I am worried about doin damage to the front. Originally I planned on a performance/desert type lift but I itchin to go at least 6-8"s now. Would like to keep a set of 37s for towing and milage but I want a second set of wheels w/38 possibley 39.5 Swampers for goofin around. Cant spend more than 1500-2000 on a kit right now. I would like something basic that I could trick out as finances permit. Would the 37"s fit with minor rubbing ? Just a leveling kit ? Should I shoot for a 6" with a 2" body lift. Could I get away with a short arm kit and upgrade to long or adjustables ? Mabey just run cheap coil/spacer kit untill I decide on springs. I think I would like eventually to end up with 8" lift total with minnimum blocks. Long C/As. Progressive coils and some quality 2.5 RR shocks. Right now just get 37s on the front so I can get to work without damaging anything. Okay, I know ,alot of questions i bet you guys get the jist of it. Any ideas on temporary or permanent set ups and where to get them appreciated. Phil Oh yeah Im drivin an 06 srw qq 3500 g56

I deffanitly would not go with a 2" body lift, as far as clearing 37 with no rub ? I have the 5.5 from fabtech and every now and then when turned she rubbs a lil. I dont think 37 will fit with just a leveling kit, run the stockers till you get the $$$$ for the lift u whant, then install the 37's .Its always more expensive the second time around, than to wait and do it once ... where r u located ? Iam trying to find someone close to possibly do a swap and some cash for stock suspension, tires and wheels.

Well, don't mean to sound mean, but just going to be honest.

Forget about your 8" lift, unless you plan to just use it for show and not for go.

Get a starter Carli system. This will include 3" front coils, towers, etc. Get the full replacement leaf pack.

The rear pack re-locates the centering pin to let 37s clear in the rear. On factory wheels, the Carli system will let 37s clear in the front as well.

Now that you've got the basics down, you can upgrade shocks as money allows. The Carli springs/towers/rear packs are the same for the starter kit or the advanced, so just a shock upgrade goes a long way...and of course there are a few other goodies to throw in the mix as you're able.

In the end, you'll end up with an awesome street ride, unbelievable off road capabilities, and will clear 37s in every situation.

I'm not recommending this, but it's unreal what these Carli kits will do. Last Sunday night, I was on the way to Arby's, and decided to hit a 10 mph big hump double track RR crossing at about 60 - 70 mph. The 1-ton truck sailed through the air, cleared both tracks, cleared the downward hump on the other side, and landed so soft my suction cup radar detector was still hanging on! The look of the guys face coming the other direction was priceless as a sailed over the hump in the air!!!

If you want looks, body lift it, get some cheap skyjacker coils that will sag, and have a good-looking show machine. If you want to have fun with the truck and have a lifetime of performance you never thought possible, go with Carli and don't look back.

Awhile back (probably almost year ago) when I had my mega cab with stick, I was thinking of doing 37's but wanted close to stock height so I could still tow stuff.

Anyway, there's a guy on here who has 37's with just a leveling kit and it doesn't rub too much. I don't remember his name/handle but he his truck is sliver QC 4x4...i'll do a search and see if I can find it...

Good luck!

I have a Kore Recon basic 3" kit (no replacement arms) and the factory alloy wheels with 37x12.50x17 Yokohama Geolander at/s. They rub on the axle mounting arms on a tight turn but all it seems to do is rub the paint off the arms, the tires don't have a mark on them.

I havent towed with them yet but they sure seem to help with keeping the RPMs down on the Hwy. I am running a six speed though. I dont think my Tractor,Boat, or toy hauler will be a problem they are all less than 10K though. I do foresee a clutch in the not so distant future. Just by the way it feels. I'm going to look into the Carli system. I have considered it in the past just not starting small and building it as I go. M?abey the starter system is the way to go. I would also be willing to give the leveling kit a shot. I know I would have to be east on it. Just lookin for somethin to get by 4 awhile w/o tearing up the insides of my fenders.

Power and driveability wise there was very little difference from the 35's to 37's. It seems to tow just fine as well and the mileage is virtually the same. The only thing I did notice was that braking suffers from the bigger meats, it takes longer to stop and a little more pedal pressure. It ran head to head with a 06 Megacab on 35's with all the Bullydog goodies on it and I still have 2 more settings on the Diablo to go up if I want.

If you don`t want to spend a ton of money right now , nor jump your truck , or be in the Baja 500 , level it and see if it works for you....if not add a 3in body lift (as far as I know they don`t make a 2in kit for our trucks) and you will be 5in. taller up front 3in in the rear with the factory ride and 37s for around $500

If you decide to upgrade later , the only thing you may be out is the cost of the leveling kit you won`t need. If you do a 6in. susp. lift later you`ll be @ 9in. total in order to run the 38s you want.

It all depends on what you want (expect) out of the truck.

I`m happy with my trucks ride...but it`s pretty much a street cruiser getting me to work and back , and the kids to school.

$1500 will get you a pretty good 6" lift. I am extremly pleased with my Tough Country, just need to get good shocks, it costed me under $1500, and the only thing you could do better is new rear springs, and long arm if you want that.

Carli might be better, but KORE should stand for waste of money, because their lifts are nothing more then hype, and hype didn't make my truck ride better at all

My 37" still rub with 6" just because their on stock wheels and to much BS, other then that lots of room.

Most people don't want to jump their truck anyway, I don't care HOW good of suspension you got, your killing your truck, and one day it will show it.

My truck does everything I want it to, hauls my sleds, bobcat trailer, and has no problem in the back roads.

I have come to the conclusion peoples truck rides the want they want it to, some may help but not to many. They don't want to drop huge coin on suspension for no improvement so they "feel" a better ride, when there is nothing. It was used and the guy who sold it to me even though his truck rode a lot better with it, and no nothing was wrong with it. It was a DECREASE in proformance, because my track bar was misaligned because the lift did nothing for it, and same with control arms. Their "systems" are subpar at best, even looking at the parts, nothing is anything special.

Okay, it "FEELS" better to me then, much like I "FEEL" you're suffering from a rectal cranial inversion

Not every product suits every consumer, that's why there are so many different suspension kits out there. It's okay not to like something, I could care less, but don't tell me what my truck rode like before and after the KORE kit was installed. I happen to have a little more background in the 4X4 business than the average guy on the street and I'm quite happy with my purchase, much like you are with yours.
