Thats stinks! Well whatever you do dont run anymore than you absolutely have to. Sounds like you need to start looking for a replacement. Check you boots to see if you have any shrapnel tears. Might wanna pull the intake horn off the see if any pieces made it into the grid heater. Maybe shop vac out the intercooler.

Most likely from running it for 3 months over due oil change, kept driving it hard when it first started making a slight squeeling noise and an air filter that should have been changed 50k ago. paying for it now ...

but on a better note...... i made a friend for life meeting a guy that lives like 3 miles down the road from me that has an 07' 4 dr duely with twins in it that has a little over 800hp. along with a shop at his house.

so after about 2 hrs of drooling at his truck and talking about anything and everything......... he says to me " i think i might have my stocker in one of my cabanets" a few min later he finds the turbo he had on his truck befor he went to twins. befor i could say anything he says too me " how does 400 bucks sound"

i told him sold!!!!!!! then asked how much too put it in...... he said if i helped him out with it ......not to worry about it !!!

the following night we started on the swap........ 4 hrs later we had it in and it was all good to go.

it took a little longer than we thought cause of the 2 studs on the motor side of the manafold broke and needed a little heat to get them out. along with 2 of the clamps on the down pipe .

he was a stand up guy and saved my life . had a big snow storm the following night and would have lost a few plow accounts if my truck was down

sorry for the supper long post ....but i needed to give the man two thumbs up for helping a guy out that he never met before .

ps. twins are in the works in about a month

Did the shaft break or was it just bearing failure? Last one I saw that looked that bad the exhaust wheel broke off.

I would at least pull your horn and look and see if there is anything in the manifold.. Or your build budget will quickly get turned into a re-build budget.

At 30+ psi and 700+ CFM little pieces will make it into your pistons.

Chances are as small as those shavings where they already passed through the engine without harm as you drove the truck with the failed turbo. I doubt many of the shavings are left to be found in the intercooler.

Go with a good quality oil such as Rotella and good filter like Fleetgaurd. Be sure to start cooling that turbo down before shutting off the truck.
