I just came back from a 300 mile trip and it just seems to me that my tranny temp seems high to me. I was pulling my car trailer empty and it stayed at 150-165 and 180+ if I hit light traffic. I had the cruise on 70 the whole time, not hammering on it at all, the converter was locked 99% of the ride. It wasn't even hot out around 65-70. BTW the tranny is definatly not slipping. Is this only me or does everyone's trucks run at these temps.

1. Is the temp probe in th pan or the line?

2. I see 180 empty in city driving.....in AZ....hotter temps....mine's in the pan.

it is in the pan. The only reason I as is because my buddies 99 never goes over 125 towing but he had a double deep pan.

With my mag-hytec pan I can't get over 175 with my 12000 lb trailer!!! Your about normal for a stock pan.
