My Smarty Update

Well I thought I would post some of my observations on the lastest Smarty update I loaded today. Might be useful to the moderately modded guys. I have been running since last december with an older version of Smarty code SMT3E309D304(Moderate TM) I think. I ran TST on 05tt normal 12* timing set on 3/0 and EZ on 1 with the Smarty SW #4. I liked the stack, no real timing rattle and power was fairly smooth along with decent mileage. Only issues were the smoke could be pretty bad unless I was careful and the transmission seemed to hunt a lot in low speed traffic. I have not been running the truck hard since the freeze plug damage, just my daily driver.

About a week ago I unloaded the Smarty to see if I could diagnose a possible injector issue. Ran just the TST and EZ on pretty much the same settings as with the Smarty. I noticed that I had no smoke on normal settings, I had forgot how it was to drive without trying to minimize smoke. Also noticed not near as much transmission hunting in low speed traffic. The EGTs were higher across the board a little and the mpg was down.

But today I could not stand it and upgraded Smarty to SMT3V310B307B(Stock Inj., Aftermarket turbo and Moderate TM). Loaded same SW #4 with TST 05tt 3/0 and EZ 1.

I did not notice any difference or issue with timing rattle although it might idle a bit rougher. Not much if any.

I did notice the smoke is much easier to control and boost builds a lot faster for me.

The transmission hunting seems to be gone which is good for me as I spend a lot of time in stop and go traffic.

EGTs are higher than the previous Smarty version and even higher than without the Smarty. Not too high just higher. With my previous version my EGTs were lower across the board.

Overall happy with the lastest version on my truck. Just wish the engine was 100% so I could load the "Wild Thing" and to go the track .

Do you have any idea when you may be able to dig into the motor?

As soon as $10k becomes available, not likely to happen soon unless my 6 lucky numbers hit .

Just have too many other priority things happening over the short term. That amount is obviously looking at worst case and total performance rebuild/new motor. Never know life has a way of changing directions on me almost on a daily basis lately.

There is a 308 version of smarty out as of April 17...I believe it has some minor tweaks to fix the 307 higher egt's....may want to give it a try.

The 308 versions are for the S-06 Smarty models, I have a S-04 Smarty model and looks like the 307 versions are the latest for it right now.
