My AirDog 150 problem!?!?

So last Thursday I went out in the morning, went to start the truck and no fuel pump noise. Looked around the pump, lines, and wiring. Nothing wrong and the connections looked good. Truck ran the night before too. Checked the 20a fuse by the relay. It was blown, no biggie just replace it and go right?? Nope that dint work. Its blown like 15 fuses now.. Turns on for like 5-7 seconds then pops again. Its got good voltage at the plug by the pump and did not look corroded at all. Any ideas?? Is my pump shot?? Anything you guys suggest I try?

Are you showing any fuel pressure when it turns on? Is the pump motor hot to the touch after it runs? Just trying to find a starting point to go from.

You're going to need to trouble shoot the issue. Start by looking at all of the wiring to see if there is any chaffed wires that are grounding out. If you can find any you're going to need to look at the pump. I would start by just loosening the water separator so that the pump sucks fuel. This will tell you if you have a blockage on the pick up side. While you're at it look at the screen inside the threaded part that the water separator screws to for any blockage. If you don't see anything take the 4 screws off of the side pump plate to see if there is anything in the pump gearing. you can take the gears out to inspect to see if there is any debre in the pump or burrs. Just re-assembly.

After that call AirDog & talk with them. They are very good.

Well I got ahold of Ron. I have a few things to check. First inspect behind the gear rotor plate. Once its clean, test the pump with the cover off. If it doesnt work, do the bucket test. Last if I dont have luck, its most likely in the motor. To which Ill have to discuss with Ron.

Well I started my testing today by pulling the inspection plate off and taking the gear out. Tried powering up the pump and it popped the fuse right away. I tried spinning the gear by hand and it wasnt easy by any means.. Called Ron back at Pureflow and he now has a new pump on the way!! Great customer service if you ask me. =)!

I don't think that AD has as many problems as people think. It's no different than any other electrical pump out there. You just hear more about it cuz alot of poeple have them.

Just some numbers as an example: If only 10% were problem pumps, so if they only sold 10 pumps only 1 pump may be bad. But if you have 10,000 sold maybe 1,000 could be bad. It's all a numbers game. I"m sure that airdog has less failure than that, I'm just using these numbers arbitrarily choosen.

I'm guess, its more like 1-3%. Its just that there are so many pumps out that is reason why you see so many inquires here.
