Since my 05 already has 4" pipe on it, should I do a complete Cat Back system or just change out muflers? Also, any suggestions on which brand? Thanks

t_george77,
We still sell lots of dual systems for the 2004.5+ trucks but for folks that are staying with a single system the MBRP replacement muffler is the best option for flow and cost savings. It's 409 stainless just like the rest of the system, has welded hangers that re use the factory ruibber mounts and totally replaces the stock muffler, if you need even more EGT drop we have cat test pipes for off road and racing available too. Sound wise the muffler is pretty close to stock except when you hammer in it, cruising it's very very mild. Call us if you have any questions etc.

Save your hard earned money and just replace the stock muffler with an aftermarket one. There are several 4" mufflers out there that will fit just depends on how loud you want it. Do some research on mufflers and you'll get all kinds of good info

I dont know how cheap mufflers are (never priced one) but I bet they aint as cheap as a muffler delete pipe or just gettin an exhaust shop to cut it off and weld in a piece of pipe. thats what I did with mine and it wasnt loud enough so I did a little more tweekin on it an managed to get a few more dbs out of her

Straight pipe it!!! You can't get lower back pressure than that. Little louder than stock, slight drone at 2100rpm nothing bad. Keep the cat and you'll be happy with it and have more money left over for fuel.

I have 4" exhaust without a kitty and the Dynomax muffler (289-24217 In/Out: 4'' Overall Length: 16-1/2'' $37.99) is installed where the bed meets the cab. With the Dynomax muffler, I think it deepened the sound of the exhaust, louder than stock but not as loud as straightpiped. I ran it straightpiped for about 2 months and just counld't stand that raspy rice burner sound. Since the addition of the bullet race muffler, absolutely no rice burner sound, no noticable drone in the cab, EGT'S still remain cooler and all for around $38.00
I am very pleased with this muffler
