To muffler or not to muffler?

I am wanting to try the straight pipe again. I had my tow twins straight piped and really didn't like the sound. I added the aero before I went with the R-700 twins. Its not loud at all right now, quiet at idle and at WOT its mild. I am wondering if the R-700 will be meaner than the tow twins straight piped. I want my truck to sound like a 650hp truck. Will a 5 inch exhaust be louder, if I stay with a muffler which one will sound meaner than the aero. What do you guys think, suggestions please

DUK, I suggest you step up to a 5" exhaust....MBRP makes a cheap 5" TB and if its too loud with the supplied muff, then you can to the Donaldson 51" like I have. Very mellow under most situations, and mean sounding under WOT.

I will be at the next dyno day. You can listen to my truck, I have 5" straight pipe. Yours will be a little quieter with the twins, but mine is pretty darn loud.

Joe, good to see you can make it. When i had the special my exhaust was loud. I had the BD muffler at the time. I think I will step up to the 5 inch. Is it 4 into 5 after the down pipe? Les, your did sound pretty darn wicked. 5 inch with the supplied muffler huh? What about 5 inch straight piped? If i go 5inch straight piped it will be on soon, my buddy has a shop. Will I go from the down pipe back with the 5 inch.

FloPro Twister. Still loud enough, but not raspy. I love mine.

I have a full 5" straight pipe, no muffler or cat, and love the sound.

My exhaust comes out of the turbo 4" but instantly turns to 5" within the first couple inches off the turbo outlet. Joe
