muffler
Question for you guys.
Thinking about cutting off my muffler and replacing it with a 4" piece of pipe. Is this a good or bad idea? Will it ad any power or just make the truck louder? Really can not afford a bunch of mods right now.
Not sure if this would change my EGT or anything, I would think it would lower my EGT. The guy that would be doing all this for me said it might make the truck louder than I would like maybe a little ridiculous loud.
The truck is completely stock that I know of.

Advocate of getting the ban button used on him...
Do it. You'll be happy. It only makes the truck a little louder and throatyer (sp?) sounding. Not sure about egt's as I have not put in any guages yet. I was VERY concerned about mine when I did it and also did not want a loud crazy exhaust and I am very pleased with how it sounds. No drone, and with the windows up you can barely tell a difference while ideling.

Well cut it off, sounds good but louder than i suspected. You can really here it in the cab of the truck that's the only thing I really don't like but over all I think it makes the truck sound a lot better. Could this affect the turbo in anyway, it might just be me but it almost sounds like the turbo is spooling up more now that its just got a straight pipe in place of the muffler.

Lotsa people cut them out then regret it.
I'd suggest putting on a Nelson or Donaldson muffler, got mine for $67 from my local Cummins shop, pics in my gallery.
