Just picked up a new 3500 on Fri and am enjoying it so far.
I've heard a few pings from stones bouncing up and hitting something. I was looking to install the molded Husky mud flaps when I mentioned to the salesman about my travel trailer and he said that I might want something more substantial to protect the truck and the travel trailer. Any thoughts on this?

I went with the Dodge Heavy Duty Rubber flaps. Take a look at my gallery for photos. Haven't heard anything hit the side of the truck since putting them on. Got them for $64 shipped from TX. PM if you want the dealers name.

Also, only holes that need to be drilled on these is into the plastic wheel well liners, instructions say to drill out the top hole on the front, but I did not, just used existing holes.

I ended up going with the molded Mopar flaps ($39/pr). I like them. They're not too intrusive and mine are more for splash protection than anything else.

One suggestion for anyone buying these. . .

If you also have bought the rear fender liners, be sure to keep the old smaller liners that get removed during the installation process. You're going to need two of the metal clips that are on that removed piece for your front flaps. They will provide the backing for two of the holes on the front fenders (existing holes are too large for the supplied screws). Those clips fit nicely and work great.

There are chrome heavy wire flap guides that the flap slides into and then mounts on your inner wheel well. I had them on my '99 dually and worked great and easy install. I got them while on a trip and going through Austin Texas at a place called Pickup Heaven. You won't have the problem you had with those babies.

Big Bob do you have a pic of the rear of your truck while all the lights are on but no flash on your camera at night? I would love to see such a pic as your set up is what i am thinking... Looks good man.

One thing I recommend is if you use the molded dodge flaps use the clear tape where the mold wraps around. Mine shimmied the paint of my other truck. I won't use them, but will go with the flat ones.

I installed some bushwacker flares and now the molded mudflaps don't fit anymore. Anybody got any suggestions as to what works now. I still want to run mudflaps but I have not found anything that looks good that I can still afford.

The really nice Ram flaps (in the accessory catalogue) work perfect with the Bushwackers. I have them,...easy install on both.

Out of Here do you have any pics? Are those flaps hard or rubber? I assume you are refering to a catalog the dealer has, correct? I might be intresested but I have a very hard time getting to the parts department while they are open. Thanks for the reply.
