MPG on my Christmas road trip!

2006 Quad Cab 4x4, loaded with a couple hundred pounds of luggage and misc stuff in the truck bead, 400lbs of people. Our trip went from Gilbert Arizona, through Payson and Holbrook, to Albuquerque. I split the trip and MPG calculations in 2 parts on either side of Holbrook because the speed limit increases once we turned onto I-40.

Smarty set on Level 2 with everything else on default. The truck is bone stock with except for the Smarty (even has a Fram air filter). Picked up a nice flush mount tonneau cover prior to starting which might have helped???

All values hand calculated, the overhead is pushing 25mpg at this point:
Gilbert to Holbrook = 18.8mpg. Gauge read 3/4 full when I topped off.
Holbrook to Albuquerque = ??? Used this tank to run around town. Was over 1/2 when we arrived.
Albuquerque to Holbrook = 18.0mpg. Gauge again read 3/4 full when I topped off.
Holbrook to Gilbert = 19.76 Gauge once again around 3/4 full when I topped off back at home.

Not sure if this is typical, but I'm happy for a big red 4x4! I've had the truck since new, but added the smarty this year (around 62k miles). I usually get around 17.7mpg for my in town stop-and-go driving.
Later,

Greg

key words for the searches: MPG, 2006, 5.9, Smarty, stock

My second gen will give me that towing a 14' cargo trailer 1/2 full of furniture t 2000 rpm`s .I get 19 all the time around town on short 10 miles to town. I did get 23.8 on a return trip hauling an empty cargo trailer. But MY truck has no fuel sucking garb like your newer truck has.

How come your on level 2 with the smarty? That level has stock timing. The best mileage I've got was level 5 default, 21.3 mpg hand calculated.
