Motor Blown!

simple compression test would tell if anything How is that done simply?Just wondering if any of you guys had gauges installed that blew engines
it's very easy using a $100 compression test kit installed into each injector port. If the cylinders are leaking down you got a problems.
I can't speak for everyone but, gauges are a given in most cases.

Hi Imills,
Anything different from a gasser rebuild? I mean are they the same concepts-regarding clearances, torque settings, etc., just bigger wrenches? I guess everything is much heavier, though. I've seen the ads by Cummins for rebuild kits, doesn't seem that much for parts, why so much for the labor?
Thanks,
GaveUpOnTV
BTW, did you do the sequential turbo setup on your truck yourself? I think I remember a post (don't hesitate to correct me if I'm wrong) where you said something about "here we go about the 'overpriced twins' argument again" and laid out a list of prices of stuff needed for a twin set (okay, senquential turbos)

Yes like I said I have been hearing of alot of engines blowing here latly but some have any been without chips. Before the common rail it was almost un heard of to blow a cummins unless you had big injectors. It seems like the more electronics they add the more problems we see but only time will tell. I wouldn't think just one chip would cause to blow an engine up but who knows.

....at the little corner of the world I'm in the score stands (10 year period):
Stock: 1
Bombed: 8
Most recent was an 06 running a downloader. Towing heavy, no gauges, melted #6.

Diesel Dan are you talking to me? If so no my truck is at Top End Diesel getting the motor rebuilt. If you are from Marthasville I am bound to have seen you around. I have a buddy that lives down there that drives a 2005 dodge name is Arron Stienmann that also have the pulling tractor called the gateway deere. Yeah trust me this is a hard lesson to learn, 10,000 dollars out of the pocket book hurts real bad but I just got the loan approved today.

See thats another truck that has a hole in the piston. Do you know if he had any modds? Or whether or not ther are going to warranty it? I figured if you run around down there you would of had to run into them they are about the most abnoxious people you'll ever meet but funny. Do you know what happen to the 06? Drop an injector or what?

thats sucks how did he loose an exhaust valve? I am gonna say probably the TST had something to do with that. Man I hope after I get this motor back together I don't have alot of problems. I am hoping the Don M's will cure the injector problems.
